Shes been at this job for 20 years. We are already short staffed (only 3 of us, now 2) and have all had to work some rough shifts. Well she apparently believed it was unfair she has to close 3 times, despite the fact that shes working the same schedule Ive been working for the past month or so. Now we only have 2 employees including myself. Shit sucks.

That sucks. What kind of place is it? In my area the places that are closing early due to lack of staffing are the lower paying fast food jobs and Dollar General/Dollar Trees. Restaurants as well.

If she's been there for 20 years then it probably gives her some level of perspective as to how bad the working conditions have gotten and maybe she just doesn't want to stay there if this is how it's going to be

And how late is closing?

I generally prefer closing shifts.

Nah. Its definitely a work ethic thing. Shes infamous for being incredibly lazy/whiny. She used to be the lead tech (this is pharmacy) but got demoted because she never did her job. The current lead tech has literally gone out of his way to constantly pamper her and give her whatever she wants so shell stop complaining. Even with the short staffing hes been giving her the easiest shifts possible while he and I are constantly working overtime and are exhausted, and now its only gonna get worse for the two of us.

She was also mad because she has to work this weekend. I told her shes literally had every weekend off my almost 2 months while the other dude and I have worked every one. She lied to my face and told me shes been working the weekends and I was just like ?????

She literally has a reputation for being one of the worst techs in the district. Even techs and pharmacists at other stores know who she is and all hate her, so maybe this is a good thing. Well recover eventually, but its gonna be rough.

Also when she was lead she made me close literally every single night so she can stop with that unfair bullshit

If she was there for 20 years and had seniority, they shouldn't make her do the crappy shift. The company was wrong. Things would only get worse and I probably don't blame her for leaving. My company only makes the new employees work the late and overnight shifts. Some people have quit because they hate working those hours but thats the way it is.

I quit Wal-Mart because they gave me a close-open-close-open shift for a week, specifically after I asked them to stop doing that. There was 7 hours in-between the two shifts.

Weve literally had people who have quit in the past citing her as a reason for leaving. As in they literally cannot stand working with her.

Her seniority was the only thing protecting her, so like I said maybe this is a good thing. Her quitting was the only way we could realistically get rid of her. Its frustrating for now, but I believe this will be a good thing in the long run

Yup. I just left my job of the past 3 years because of some bullshit my new mamanger thought they could pull on me(lol). i don't hurt myself for anyone in life, I broke up with my fiance last november too. Just leave and get it over with. They have an inexperienced tech in my place, and i was the only person who was creating and deploying our company wide Windows image, and dealt with some other crucial tasks on the east coast where I was the only It person for years. Not to mention the UK, Europe and India. Things will be harder on my team, but that's not my problem frankly.

It's funny, my company is rated one of the best places to work, and the beenfits were amazing. It all came down to one manager's ego and political scheming. But I have 80K in the bank, make passive money and have medicare as a backup insurance due to a medical condition. I live in a cheap city now, on my new york salary, I don't even need a job at all. I don't know what they were thinking.

EDIT: On top of this, all the big wigs from other department are pissed at my manager that I'm gone.

If she was disliked and apparently hated the job so much that she was such a poor employee, you should've seen this coming.

The more miserable she was there and the worse she was treated and thought of, the more likely to quit.

If you just needed an extra body you should've placated her until she was ready to be replaced honestly. Her life, her choices.

20 years and being that bad, either there was no performance standard or OP is exaggerating. OR she was connected up high, in which case complaining is pointless.

She's employed for TWO DECADES where everyone in the county (he said even other stores dislike her)hates her and she is incompetent and lazy? Suuuuuuure.

Its not as unlikely as you think. People like this exist everywhere. Washed up boomers who have discovered the secret formula to get by doing the absolute bare minimum.

It wouldnt surprise me if she was much more competent when she was younger. Hell she was even better when I first started 3 years ago. Ive watched her get progressively worse.
