JRPGs at least. For some reason devs think making a fight 15 minutes long because the enemy has 1m hp is good design and I'll never figure it out. I gave Xenoblade Chronicles 2 a shot because everyone said it was a good Switch RPG and holy shit even the regular enemies take like 5 minutes to kill sometimes, this is terrible. The fights aren't even hard, they're just annoying because they last so long and the battle system isn't good enough for me to want them to be drawn out.

To be fair, JRPG's aren't the only genre's who are guilty of this shit. But I agree, it's shitty game design to think long boss battles are fun.

Don't most games do this? Hell aren't difficulty settings in games just making you do less damage and taking more damage from the enemy?

If theyve got poor difficulty design, yes. Difficulty can be made so much more interesting than that.

The battles are slow at the start of the game but are much faster as you progress and start doing driver/blade combos and chain attacks consistently.

I dont mind them being long more so for the theme of a boss. A boss feels like he is more difficult within the story when he takes a while to defeat. Granted, 15 minutes long is a very long battle I would only find acceptable from a Final Boss while not being optimal. Plus, there obviously needs to be a difficulty increase, not just an HP increase

I can appreciate a longer fight so long as the fight is paced well and is engaging

A good example is FF7Remakes Dreamweaver fight

3 phases, figuring out how to properly open it's defense while avoiding the chaos on the field

Just to clarify it wasn't unbeatable and the fight didn't take two days and he despawns in 8 hours once aggroed. Any story about it taking 2 days is going to involve either glitches or counting the camping time.

And the fight itself didn't take long the people attempting it were just fucking idiots and didn't understand to kill the adds that heal him for some reason.

If you rereleased that fight today it would be down within a few days. MMO players are a lot smarter now than they used to be.
