It makes me sick that people act like this when people in poor countries can't even get the vaccine.

tbh all things considered. They seem to doing ok and it doesnt seem to have as bad of an impact as in the west. Like Haiti had nearly 4x people die from an earthquake than covid over the past 2 years

It seems like its more of a fat people disease which seems to affect the west a lot more than other countries. Even checking out the UK gov sites. It looks like co morbidities tend to be the ones with people who live unhealthy lifestyles. But for the most part, contained more to people on the tail end of the natural lifespan

You may be right but that's not the point.

It seems like the absolute height of arrogance to turn your nose up at such a marvel of modern medicine when there are people who simply don't have access. People in countries that actually have access to the vaccine really do need to check their privilege.

The best analogy I've seen so far is vaccine = armor.

Just because you wear one doesn't make you immune to damage but it sure helps mitigate a lot of it.

Thats an interesting one.

If an elderly person dies unvaccinated. They focus a lot on dying with covid and being unvaccinated......and ignore that fact that the person was on the tail end of their lifespan and had a bunch of associated co-morbidities

But if an elderly person dies while vaccinated they always point out that he was already old and most likely had a bunch of co-morbidities

Would that be due to people like you cherry picking cases where someone vaccinated dies and acting like that proves the vaccine doesn't work? Shut the fuck up

I'm happy my dad stops at "I don't know why they had to start calling it a jab, that's dumb" but still supports vaccination. He's started to subscribe to a lot of conservative BS lately but at least he's serious about COVID stuff.

No not at all. When I see deaths, both vaccinated and unvaccinated I take note of their age and co-morbidities. And they nearly always seem to be on the tail end of a natural lifespan and often have the co-morbidities associated with those age groups. If anything I find it dirty when they say a young person died to generate hype but then in the fine print or you look deeper, you find out they had long term hospital stay types of co-morbidities which to me at that age usually sounds like cancer or something. Like that 14 year old who had been dealing with cancer for the past year and was announced to the media as a 'covid death' which his family got upset about seeing that he was only found to have covid a day or 2 earlier when for months he could have been basically already on his death bed because of the cancer.

When I saw that case with that kid, it also made me kind of wonder. Are the recorded deaths and hospitalizations directly because 'of covid' or just simply 'with covid'? What happens if there is a workplace accident where a guy falls off a ladder, breaks his leg, then gets rushed to hospital. While there he has to take a covid test on admission, comes back positive despite showing little to no symptoms during his stay but is primarily being treated for a broken leg. Is that listed as a covid hospitalization?

Im not an anti-vaxxer btw. I do think vaccines offer protection and encourage people to take it and would never discourage anyone from getting it.

But the fact is, for most, if they get covid, they arent even given any medical treatment at all. No medicine, no doctors check up. Just quarantine and isolate at home if you test positive. And that seems to be the case for like 99% of people who test positive.

Nah.

What's happening is that a lot of covid conspiracy clowns have been claiming that it's the co-morbidities killing people and not covid. How many times have you seen "they are counting every death as covid"? Either that or they would just callously dismiss the deaths of elderly people as some sort of tribute to keep the economy running and trumps campaign afloat.

But if an elderly person dies while vaccinated they always point out that he was already old and most likely had a bunch of co-morbidities

Because now they are saying that this is proof that vaccines don't work, which is absurd. Powell had a cancer that shut down his immune system. He was literally the most at risk person for covid that one can imaginably be. And we already knew that vaccinated people can still die from covid (at significantly lower rates).

Seems more like antivaxxers are projecting their hypocrisy and their conflicting narratives onto others. Is covid not very serious and deaths are being over-counted? Or is covid actually killing a lot of people?

I told this story a month or two ago but I live in an area that's really heavy anti-vaxx. I have mine. An anti-vaxx buddy of mine got Covid, gave it to his anti-vaxx grandma and she died. He's even said basically that he killed his grandma. You would think this would turn him around on the vaccine. It didn't. He was pissed because he got covid from a guy who WAS vaccinated and didn't even know he had it. Why? Because a vaccine is supposed to make you not get a disease. It makes NO sense. People won't change.

Easiest tells that you are dealing with an antivaxx clown who failed high school stats and biology.
