I apply to a job. HR responds and says we'd love to set up a time for the HR phone screen. I go into the scheduling link she sends me, set the date/time, and email her back a response confirming I've set a time in the platform. We have the call, it goes fine. She even goes so far as to say the hiring manager has these times available for a call next week. We iron down a time, she says she'll send confirmation, and we say farewell.
Throughout the next few days, I hear nothing. I send her two separate check-in emails and hear nothing back. I assume I've been ghosted/rejected by the hiring manager at this point, so mentally I write off the job because it was a bit of a long shot application anyways. Well I still had the hour blocked off on my calendar for when the hiring manager call was supposed to be. And guess what? I get a call from the hiring manager at that time. Wasn't expecting anything at all at that point so I was off guard. That call still actually went fine despite my lack of prep, but my worst fear came when he said he would get with (recruiter's name) to schedule a follow-up, which means I'm fucked. tl;dr why is such a seemingly innocuous position filled with absolute morons? --- ... I don't get it. How are you fucked when the manager said you have a follow up? That almost sounds like you made it to the next round or at the very least there was a clear disconnect from the recruiter and the manager. Has nothing to do with you, but did you tell the manager you weren't expecting tbe call?
Yeah some recruiters are absolute shit though. One was 10 minutes late to the zoom call (I don't know why she wanted to do a video on either) and looked like she didn't even look at my resume beforehand or had any actual knowledge about the current field. I had to actually walk her through my resume and my skills in detail and what they are and compare it to the job description. I've also had managers ask me what time I'm free for a phone interview and I tell them, "I'm free for a conversation after 11am" and they don't respond or delay for a day. Like I try to be flexible around them when they ask me what time I am available to chat. wtf just schedule a time already. --- Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need. ... I was like, "sorry but you might notice I'm a bit off guard; I spoke with (recruiter) last week and we settled on this date/time, but I never received a follow-up from her despite me checking in with her, so in full transparency, I was worried I had been passed up! But I still kept the time blocked on my calendar so I'm pleased to hear that that was not the case." --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I've noticed the more experienced ones are way better and to the point.
for the entry level people they're running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to meet quotas. it's kind of unfair to them but on the other side of the equation it takes very little skill to do. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
