They didn't really give me a good idea as to how long it was going to take them?

I got the call back after about 1 1/2 month and was told i got the job.

By that time I had decided to study, though.

If you don't hear back within a week, yeah you should move on.

Did you get any of the "No, but I don't want to just say no" answers at your interview, like "we've got a lot of interviews to make but we'll keep in touch"? With those you don't even need to wait.

This really depends where you are applying. Government jobs take longer for example.

TC, next time at the end of the interview, ask when to hear back.

But anyway, I would wait like a week after (or 5 business days) the interview to follow up on the interview process. Sometimes it takes two weeks if they are going through rounds with different people for the same position.

For sure if you got the position, they would reach out to you within 2 weeks. I've had offers where I heard literally hours after the interview, to the next day to 3 days to 1-2 weeks. Bigger companies usually take longer and have a longer process with HR and what not

They especially do this when they say during the interview that they'll let you know either way.

From my experience, they will call and email you if they really like you. If you get no phone call in 2 weeks, probably not a good sign. It sucks but a lot of interviews I had whether phone/1st stage or panel interviews, I haven't been called back to confirm that I didn't get the job after two weeks. It's really shitty ghosting. Happens maybe 50% if the time. I usually end up calling by the 2nd week. I recommend TX to be the one to reach out and at least after a week to see the status, at least for your sanity's sake. Just don't be pushy about it.

And always write a thank you letter. It's a good idea to get the Manager's email during the interview to send them and the team to a thank you note. If you are going through a recruiter, make sure you explicitly ask hem to send it to everyone who interviewed you. My second to last interview didn't sound like the recruiter did and that sometimes could cost you the offer in close situations.

Good info, thanks guys.

I felt really good about it at the time but with every day that passes by I feel less confident, but that is anxiety/pessimism for you.

The longer it takes the better because I know they are gonna piss test me and I like to smoke (I quit as soon as I applied).
