Within the first episode, Excel died like 4 times, Pedro literally had sex with a portal with arms, and Excel went through 2 sidejobs to help her evil organization I guess? >_> I'm having a little bit of a hard time following the plot, but it's funny as fuck otherwise. The director's self insert is also pretty great.

I'm watching the dub and while Excel is funny, she's WAAAAAAAAY too hyper! I can barely hear her at times and can't make out what the hell she's saying. I just want to shove it in her mouth, partly cuz she's hot and partly so she will shut the fuck up >_> At least she has nice tits.

Met the guy once at a Dallas con, apparently likes Texas steak a lot.

Excel Saga, been a while, but I remember liking Pedro and Il Pilazzo. And Hyatt, lol.

If I remember correctly, they had to replace the voice actress halfway through because the role was doing some light damage to her voice. It did good, but I prefer the japanese voice, if only because she also was Sailor Moon and the juxtiposition added to the joke.

Dont set your expectations too high. I feel like the ES finale would actually be considered relatively tame by modern standards. But it was definitely too much for TV at the time it was made.

It's a lot of fun, but it's not very shocking anymore

Yeah, the manga is radically different.
It's still a comedy, but it's nowhere near as insane.
Pedro, The Great Will, and Nabeshin are all anime originals, they don't make an appearance at all.

Just for your reference, the anime came out very early in the manga's life and only got the one season. There was only like 5 volumes of manga out when the anime came out, and it ran for 27 volumes. There's whole main characters that never made it to anime. Sorry Elgala.

My best friend was a total weeb in high school and he turned me on to the show.

It's made by the same studio that does FLCL.

One of these days I'll go through Excel Saga again. I feel like it's been almost 20 years and a LOT of accumulated knowledge of Japan since then for me.

I did appreciate the DVD set with its pop-up video explanations of various references.
