For me personally, it's simply a matter of liking comedy that makes light of controversy. I hate all the outrage and seriousness that comes up whenever stuff like this is discussed, and Dave's comedy tends to have a relaxing effect on me, regardless of who he's joking about.

Why should he bend to any demands?

when it's clear that people cherry pick subjectivity, when to be obtuse and all of that, you realize they feel entitled to a level of treatment that they don't offer others. there doesn't need to be an elaborate explanation at that point because it all goes back to same common denominator.

but I still don't get it. isn't that the point of explaining your subjective opinion? making the other people "get it?" that's the impression I was getting from people asking why the special was funny. why else keep asking the same question?

Say what you will but the fact is that the times they are a-changin'. In general comedy ages poorly compared to other media. This special will age like an open bottle of wine cooler. If Dave continues on this path he will just be seen more and more as an out of touch old man.
