I think the joke is that the water temple is tedious and frustrating.

TC may have misconstrued this truth in assuming that it makes OoT a difficult game. Which otherwise, it really isn't.

Master Quest has some pretty bullshitty troll moments though. In the same spirit as Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Lost Levels).

The thing that did me in was the key under the platform you have to get after raising the water level.

Oh, and I've never figured out the "right" way to get past that room with the stingrays tbh. I hit the switch to raise the water, then make a mad swim for the ledge before it goes back down. You can just make it, lol

The water temple is frustrating is what I hear from most people. I also didn't have a problem with it.

It's not a problem if you play through the entire dungeon logically. But I could see problems if you beat a portion of the dungeon then saved your game and quit. Upon returning to the game, the water level could be reset and forward progress could not be made without backtracking (assuming you even knew that).

Plus changing the boots adds an extra step if you are playing on the N64 as nature intended.

To be fair, I always do a dungeon in one sitting. Maybe that's why.

People get stuck because the miss a somewhat hidden key because they refuse to look at the in game map once they get the compass for some stupid reason.

I mean, it's in a room you could miss and not go to, but it's more or less always available. Once you are able to get the water level to half full.
