I dont know or really care if you are talking to me, but the bad faith trolls ITT are many people who regularly discuss politics from what I see

If these guys are the ones who lead political discussion on this board, I will call them out.

Anyway, the motivation for this was a Terry McAuliffe ad. It's voiced by Obama and it was just weird to me to talk about how a woman's right to choose is at stake and nonchalantly go "It's gonna be a close one, guys! This election will shape the future of America."

What is this topic? Voting is how you fight. Not whining.
And what do you do when voting loses? What if losing the vote ensures there will never be voting again?

People treat politics like it's just some pointless reality competition and not shaping every facet of society with the potential to harm thousands or millions.

I think it'd be a lot healthier for you guys to just come out as republicans instead of doing this weird concern trolling where you call democrats ineffective because they've "only" passed like $7 trillion in new spending. This whole thing's a bit demented and idk who you guys think you're even fooling.

If only the actions matched the rhetoric. Democrats seems pretty chill at an upcoming 50/50 chance of the end of the world.

It's why I probably won't vote again. Voted for Biden and my Democratic Governor and both won, but things are still pretty much as shitty as they were the past 4 years. Not much change. In any case, I actually hope to not even be a citizen of this foul country any longer by the midterms.

Just look at the last 2 presidential elections. Hillary, Trump, and Biden. We'd be fucked under any of them.

What about the Dem primaries this time around? About a dozen candidates adopted Bernie-lite positions, because they saw his success in 2016. Biden adopted some of these positions as well, but it was obvious that he wasn't devoted to those positions. So how do you make sure Biden sticks to his promises? Wait 4 years and then give him a binary success/failure feedback?

Or do you think the feedback comes downballot during midterms? Then tell me how senile Feinstein still has a job and what I can do to vote her out.

In our current system, voting is merely a pressure relief valve.

practicality. they know (and are correct) that if they push too hard they lose more moderates to the right than they gain from the left.

they can definitely do more. but anyone who thinks an AOC agenda is getting passed without an immediate flood of republicans into congress is out of their damn mind. just look at the reaction to Obama, and he was barely a moderate. and only really pushed for one piece of legislation, and a compromise piece at that.

edit: they do actually have one play this time, though. get a Voting Rights Amendment to the States, with no time limit. but they need to get on it yesterday.
Exactly. They need to drop the woke bs and focus on the economic depression and wage inequality. This would make them seem more genuine and draw more moderates as opposed to picking and choosing which parts of society they want to represent or ignore.

Everyones struggling, so lets focus on everyone.

Remember being completely wrong about America defeating COVID-19?

Remember when you used Trump and Republicans winning as a way to stick it to the progressives by saying things like "This is how voting works. No one let them win" and "lol this is what direct democracy would get you"

I guess grow a spine or fuck off and let someone else take up the mantle of fighting for the people.

Trump's election changed everything and Democrats don't appear to get that. The Republicans are playing for keeps and are actively trying to end everyone who disagrees with them as quickly as possible.

Every passing day, I have less faith in our country's politics than I did before. 2024, if not 2022, could very well be the beginning of the end of the country as we know it if the GOP retakes everything again.

And yes, it is extremely frustrating how limp-dick the Dems are despite having all three branches of Government. It's clear that the 50/50 split in the Senate is not anywhere near enough when we have assholes like Manchin and Sinema fucking everything up.

I mean, this is true, but it's not like the Democratic party at large seems to care much about protecting voting rights. Even the White House has more or less said it's not a huge issue.

Deaths are currently a 1/3 of what they were at the beginning of the year and we never reached that level again. A pandemic of the unvaccinated is not a pandemic btw.

I never said that but I'm not surprised to see a person in your state imagining things.

Democrats have done nothing but win for the past four years and yet you still have daily meltdowns so maybe consider the fact that politics has nothing to do with your behavior.

A pandemic is a pandemic btw. Unvaccinated people don't live in a bubble. Their spreading of the virus is causing variants and breakthrough cases, and their hospitalizations keep causing spikes that hurt everyone that tries to access a hospital. We don't get to ignore the unvaccinated when their bioterrorism is hurting people.

You absolutely were doing victory laps about reaching herd immunity when Biden took office. We're still nowhere close and we won't be without hard mandates.

Not too long ago, there was something passed in California, I think, and I remember you using it as proof of why direct democracy is something people should stop begging for.

And I distinctly remember you in the past taking exception to my phrasing of us letting Trump win the election.

My state is several hours away from a coin flip whether or not we elect a pro-insurrection businessman as governor. The alt-right is gaining actual political influence and Republican fascists gain support the more they encourage terrorism and oppression. There is no reason for us to act like the GOP will never win again.

"Democrats have done nothing but win" except the part where Trump and the GOP murdered hundreds of thousands of people by encouraging a deadly pandemic and the Trump admin did all they could to throw into the stone age. I don't think anyone was winning for the past 4 years.

Instead of victory, I see a country falling apart at the seams thanks to the worst domestic attacks since the Civil War.
