its horror comfort food
it rarely strays from its formula so when you go into a friday film you know exactly what you are going to get
it appealed to a lot of people but no one considers it high art or anything
the creators even said the films arent artistic works just something to make easy money with.

now the shaving the naked man scene in jason goes to hell was said to add a touch of homoeroticism to a genre filled with naked women.
but that only works if the men in question are attractive and this was done with 2 old flabby guys

friday part 4 did that better by having it be the attractive male character killed while naked in the shower

and they had so many homosexual actors in the 7th movie it has the fan nickname frigay the 13th

and the stoner guy i think was the other one

those were all openly gay actors. except tina's hunky love interest he was still in the closet when he made the movie but came out not to long after

or downright abusive like the woman who got hypothermia because they wouldnt let her out of the freezing lake while filming a nude death scene at night during the 4th movie
they kept her there all night to get the shot right and only let her out to warm up after several hours because the jason actor threatened to quit if they didnt

i have but i also knew this trivia long before the kill counts
been watching the franchise since i was 8 years old
when i was a kid there was a channel that showed nothing but horror related shows and movies and like every weekend it had a marathon
usually of friday the 13th or nightmare on elm street

I was also reading how Pamela Voorhees was sitting around naked outside for several hours as they were shooting her nude scenes, and for the majority of it she had to have makeup on her face since her eyes got busted out, so she couldn't even see who was around her gawking at her in that vulnerable state for so long. People on the crew had to move and reposition her for different scenes when wearing the makeup

part 5 was directed by someone who did porn so the whole production feels sleazier than the others with way more random nudity than the other movies that goes on to long so yeah pamala vorhees wasnt in the greatest hands for her nude scene
like 4 minutes of her sex scene had to get cut from the film cause they filmed a lot of it

i once asked james on his subreddit if he would ever do a bunch of LGBT horror films during pride month as a theme
he responded back to me that he actually spent a lot of money to get a copy of the slasher movie hellbent which focuses on a group of gay men being killed off during halloween by a masked psycho

i saw the film years ago and hope he does a kill count on it one day

then when i realized he was talking about the actress from part 5 remembered "oh yeah there was an actress with the same name as jasons mother"

part 7 was also hard to shoot because the film was set during summer but it was being filmed in the winter
so those scenes with the girls lounging about in their bikinis had the actresses sucking on ice cubes between takes so their breath wouldnt show up on camera cause it was freezing outside making breath visible

and part 9 was made by a 23 year old director who had some weird ideas and wanted to do something different with the franchise

It was still better than Jason X and set up Freddy vs Jason.
Him turning back into a little boy was just a vision.

At least the idea was better than sending Jason to Space.

part 5 is the worst movie in the friday franchise
jason X has one of the most likable cast of victims in it. janessa and her one liners which i found hilarious, to creepy nerdy guy who insists his sex robot isnt a sex robot, to the sex robot who has that awesome scene

its ridiculously over the top but honestly a lot of fun
leprechaun 4 in space was also goofy fun

It would have been decent if it wasn't a Friday the 13th movie.

It's like if Michael Myers was revealed to be Pennywise. It doesn't fit the narrative.

roy is the least of my problems with the movie
by that logic id hate the first movie to because jason wasnt the killer in it

my issues with part 5 has more to do with its sleazy feel to it even compared to other films in this frachise known for being sleazy

the fact that a studio mandate said a kill had to happen every 8 minutes so most of the film is just introducing randoms then immediately killing them. other jason movies had random victims to up the body count but not to this extreme.
the main cast in other films at least got focus but the kids at pinehurst barely had any more screentime then the 2 random greasers who james a janesse thinks may have been a gay couple

it led to not caring about anyone except the crazy old lady who was hilarious

also tommy gets the focus for the first 20 minutes and then disappears until the last 5 minutes of the movie
why even have tommy if you arent going to use him?

roys motivation is also really stupid
arg my son is dead so im going to get revenge by killing everyone except the guy who actually killed my son. he seems cool so ill let him live. but kindly old grandather is gonna get his eyes gouged out for sure!

3 things of note about Goes to Hell

1. The poster will never not look like a slimy poop demon coming out of a plate
2. Literally subtitled The Final Friday, not to be confused with The Final Chapter that came out like 4 or 5 sequels before that lol
3. Cowboy Hat bounty hunter mercenary guy was cheesy, hilarious, and necessary to take on Jason.
