Current Events > I want to play a game but I don't know what to play

Last game I finished was Far Cry 6.

Have several MMOs to try or try to get back in to (Star Wars: TOR, FFXIV, Runescape).
Have several city/manager games to try (Surviving Mars, Frostpunk, Anno 1800)

Was playing a turnbased strategy game but I don't have the willpower to get back into it lol, I know I am going to fuck it up and I don't want to feel like I put time into doing something just to lose.

I know there's other productive shit I could be doing but I just feel burned out from the grind of the commute and office work and college work and want to unwind somehow.

Yeah! Still unemployed but I've settled and things are so much better on a day to day basis compared to before. It was really good for me.

Well having no luck getting Children of the Nile working, re-downloaded Dying Light (I never did beat it) and then started on my homework :(

I played many hours of Dying Light today, started a new game since I didn't remember the story all that well. Not that the story is too important in that game but I figured I'd give it a fair shake.

Don't know how far I am now, achievements lead me to believe I'm probably about halfway based on my side quest count.

Thought about getting into Star Wars: TOR but I've been deliberating for the past half hour and now I'm like "well if I start a new character it'll be too late to really get into it" -_-

I don't know why but I have a really hard time getting into it. I enjoyed the original better, 2 doesn't do it for me despite having more content.

I think it's because I was spoiled by this stupid Half-Life 1 mod called BrainBread that had a ton of depth to it, and now most multiplayer zombie killers feel a little shallow in comparison.

@Yefoloogi Glitchy, felt like an attempt at a first person Just Cause game without all the destruction or action that makes Just Cause entertaining. The story has some interesting ideas but feels very incoherent at points... I don't know if they cut content, but there were a few times where it felt like there was a missing mission. Also it's very, very (story spoilers) shallow, even for a Far Cry game. It starts off very serious and grand and interesting but quickly becomes just generic sort of 1980s action movie drivel. Writing was actually kind of fun at times though, I enjoyed some of the really stupid cutscenes with over-the-top action to it.

Oh, and the guns all felt like lasers. And the silencer system was stupid af lol. I guess the whole gear system was a wash :(

I would wait until it's on sale for sure.

Oh and co-op is still terrible for what it should be. I don't know how Ubi nailed it with Ghost Recon: Wildlands but then consistently fudges it up in Far Cry. Just emulate the same system damn.

I also heard it was glitchy. People try to take over the outposts and the enemies just keep respawning back infinitely. Doesnt sound like a good time

Yes, enemies respawning is a thing. You can see videos of people sniping an enemy on a catwalk, zooming out (to reload their rifle), then zooming in again to see the enemy on the catwalk again. I had this happen to me a few times. I also had boats and helicopters materialize out of nowhere when I was trying to hide from pursuers -_-. I mean, they appeared in the water and sky respectively, but the fact that they just *appeared* was disturbing.

There are also some really obnoxious escort missions where the AI pathing gets confused and who knows what's going on. For instance...

There's a mission where you meet a character and have to fight your way out of a house and to an area with horses to take the horses and escape (that is literally the plan in the words of this other character). So I did that. Except the field next to the horses was burning so the AI just stood there awkwardly. And then I got on a horse and the AI started running down the road instead of getting on a horse and we killed *more* bad guys for some reason, and then the AI started running back up the road toward the horses, then turned around and stopped and went back *down* the road.... Finally we got on an ATV, and that was fun until a horse came out of nowhere and knocked us off (actually that was hilarious). Also hilarious was the fact that I rode this ATV the whole way with the AI and the dialogue as we got closer to the camp was "Are we there yet? I'm gettin' tired from all this running!"

Also had an escort mission where the AI stopped about five feet from where it was supposed to. So I had to kill myself and restart the checkpoint...
