you put the anchors into studs or is just dry wall ok?

Also is there a safe reliable way to make sure you're not drilling into electrical wires ? >_>

Pretty sure the purpose of anchors are for drywall. Studs shouldn't need anchors.
Most stud detectors can detect electrical wires as well. Though it seems, at least with the cheapo one I have, that the electrical detection is spotty at best. Mine seems to alert me of wiring if the outlet is within 6 inches of where I'm detecting.

shoot I don't have a stud detector :(

I will say there shouldn't be any electrical wiring in the wall where we're installing it anyway.

Anchors in the rock should be fine, but studs are better. If the electricians were halfway competent the wire should be stapled back away from the rock so you should be fine. Don't use very long screws just in case. Usually there won't be any wires near that area anyway.

Even if there was, it would be ran along side the stud so chances are you'll be find. I would recommend investing in a detector though. They can determine the edges of the stud which is very helpful.

Just tap on the wall with your finger. With a little practice, you'll tell the difference between drywall with a stud behind it and hollow. You can feel it and hear it.

Besides, if you're using a drill through a wall and there's wiring, chances are pretty high that your drill bit would just move it a bit. Wiring is generally kinda loose in-between studs.

Also, plain drywall mounting is pretty normal. The top screw of the mounting bracket gets the pull and the bottom screw anchors. Just install it as best you can and don't yank on it like it's bolted in.

Just get an "inset" holder, and intentionally miss the studs.

Got damn lol. No lies detected! But also not sure what sort of tactical advantage that would have conferred

Thanks for the tips everyone. Time to go fuck some wall up.

Those are usually..... ok. Don't be too forceful with them and they will get the job done if you haven't used any before
