I really like the first one with River Song. Silent Library? Of course Blink is good as well.

Boom! That's right, this is all happening! You cannot change the channel now!
the media's gonna put a negative spin on this, like when we killed that guy.

Anything you want. I've never seen a single episode of Classic Who, so I could be interested in hearing about that. But it would have to be a fantastic stand alone episode without having to seen that episode's build up from previous episodes

my top 5, all new who, as i've also only seen a few dozen episodes of 1, 4 and 6's eras.

Blink
Midnight
Vincent and the Doctor
The Day of the Doctor
Heaven Sent (with Hell Bent as a two-parter, and Face the Raven as a bit of a set up episode)

Of the reboot series -

Probably Blink or Heaven Sent
The ending of Vincent and the Doctor rates up there

12th Doctor's second season (which ended with Heaven Sent / Hell Bent) was one of the best ever.

this project is awesome, and they seem to agree it's Heaven Sent, by a lot.

12th Doctor is going to be remembered as a hugely underrated era, given how badly it hemorrhaged viewers

Heaven Sent. Absolutely amazing.

Hell Bent is also very good. I get some very strong feels when Clara finds out the 4.5 billion years thing.

Yeah, I was actually talking about that with a friend the other day who gave up during series 8. Got them to go through some choice-picked episodes and then pick right back up in series 9
I think Capaldi was an amazing Doctor and his older age worked perfectly after the events of the Time of the Doctor. Definitely my favorite even though Tennant and Smith are great in their own right.

Shit, I'm already starting to feel like I'm gonna miss Whittaker when she's gone. So far every Doctor leaves a great impression even if some of their episodes might suck.

There's a lot of good ones, so it's hard to narrow it down. But if we're just talking standalone episodes, then...

The Girl in the Fireplace, Vincent and the Doctor, Voyage of the Damned, The Doctor's Wife, Father's Day, The Husbands of River Song.

Episodes for the 12th Doctor and 13th Doctor are kinda few and far between, though. For the 12th Doctor, as everyone said, Heaven Sent is one of the best episodes of the entire franchise, but it's technically the 2nd part of a 3 parter and you need context for it. And the 13th Doctor only has a handful of episodes that are good, but none that come close to the good ones for previous Doctors -- if I had to give an answer, though, I'd suggest Demons of the Punjab.

The 12th Doctor is a great Doctor and one of my favorites, so it sucks that he doesn't have many episodes I could recommend, or episodes that you don't need context for. He has some great moments every once in a while, and Peter Capaldi is such a wonderful actor.

I could recommend good Classic episodes, but there's all multi-part adventures since that's just how it was done back then. Everything is usually 4~6 parts long, 20 minutes each. So they're kind of a chore to get through sometimes.

Can't say it doesn't make much sense, tbh. It was around then that they started taking random years off with no episodes, or just a holiday special, the number of episodes per season started going down, and the scripts usually just weren't that tight. I remember Capaldi's first season being super disappointing to me, and there's only been a literal handful of episodes from the last 4 years or so that I can find myself rewatching.

his first two episodes are particularly hard, between his accent and the sound mixing.

at least that one is so absurd that it's funny. they made one last season that was actually even worse, and it not only took itself completely seriously, it tried to be a morality lesson with all the subtly of a brick to the face. all while trashing a bunch of established "rules", though that happens all the time anyway.

These two are good just because of the chemistry between the Doctor and his companion. I mean, the Doctor and Donna were just made for each other, specifically.

Midnight was the first one that came to mind.

My own personal fan theory is that in the episode with the hotel that spawns your greatest fear, the Doctor saw Skye in his room. A copy of him with all his knowledge that is wholly malicious.

People hate on season 2 of the revived series, but it has some absolute bangers like this one.

Yeah, it has two of the worst stories ever, but...still.

Yeah, the Impossible Planet two parter and The Girl in the Fireplace are classics, even if the rest of the season is a bit shit.
