I think when someone is taking the stand in their own murder trial it could mean a lot of things. Human behavior is very complex. It It could mean he preemptively planned to go on the stand and fake cry, sure. That would be indicative of some sort of deceit, but, that is pretty normal behavior for any person in such a situation. We've all told lies to try to downplay the seriousness of our mistakes. Does it mean any other part of his testimony is untruthful? No, not really. Even if he intended to fake cry, that doesn't necessarily mean any other part of his testimony is false, especially when there is such bountiful video evidence and witness testimony. If he were lying about material facts it should be easy to disprove his lies, and if one can't dispute his claims, then that would mean the prosecution lacks evidence to support their claims to begin with.

He could faithfully feel like crying but failing due to the amount of stress he is under. People tend to freeze up when under tremendous amounts of stress and it can disrupt even the most basic body functions, like breathing or crying.

He could be feeling pressured to cry due to the social circumstances. We often feel compelled to act in certain ways when under the scrutiny of others, as humans are naturally social and performative creatures. If he's trying to cry because he feels like others are expecting him to, I would have a hard time holding that against him. People on a witness stand often tend to act strange because of what they believe is expected of them, just like in any other stressful social situation. If, for example, someone were to seemingly fake cry at their own father's funeral when giving a speech, I wouldn't then leap to the conclusion that they secretly hated their father and were happy they were dead. That's soap opera logic detached from the complexities of human emotions.

He could be fake crying because he is a secret sociopath who enjoys playing with other people's emotions. With that said, I doubt any criminal psychologists would compare him to other famous cases of sociopathic manipulation and draw many parallels. I'm not an expert of criminal psychology but I've had enough interest in it over my life to safely say that Rittenhouse does not demonstrate any significant sociopathic tendencies, at least from what I've seen.

He could also be really crying. I don't know what Rittenhouse "actually crying" looks like and neither do you, I take it. It's a very silly thing to try to reach a conclusion of. "He's not grieving correctly!" is a criticism that grief consolers frequently find in their work. The truth is that every person grieves differently, including Rittenhouse. It's a bit much to pretend to know the contents of Rittenhouse's heart when you barely even know him as a person.

Hahah. This is a place where I can claim to have some expertise in. I've had PTSD from severe panic attacks since I was 13 years old. I can assure you, again, that people experience a wide range of symptoms when going through a PTSD or Panic Attack episode. Crying is certainly not a primary symptom of either. Rittenhouse's behavior could certainly, from the outside, have the appearance of a Panic Attack.

Gun laws in general are a mess to be honest. There's obviously very productive things like restricting access from certain people, tracking the firearms, and restricting the types of firearms people can typically access (Specifically, things like fully automatic guns which do not have a sporting, hunting, or self-defense benefit). However, it's also mired in confusing, outdated, or down-right punitive measures that make enforcement more difficult and gun owners less compliant due to frustrations with the system. And that's just at the FEDERAL level. Once you get down to State law, it becomes an incoherent rat's nest.

You probably think Derrick Chauvin is an American hero who was wrongfully convicted. Your definition of hero is clearly skewed as fuck. Alternatively, this all could have been avoided if he had a single responsible adult in his life whatsoever, but they clearly failed him and will continue to fail him when he gets off.
