Iirc it's 3-4 times a week, and that's just kinda general diet advice. Unless you're seeing a dietician or are all ready at risk for diabetes or heart disease, this doesn't seem like a very hard and fast rule to make you follow.

It used to be well known that eating red meat was associated with increased cardiovascular disease risk, but we now know that even poultry twice a week can increase risk of cardiovascular disease. Fish has not had this association and infact the skin in fish has alot of good fats.

I'm trying to cut down my own meat consumption as well. Its just that it tastes so good and I actually make it really well. At some point I'm gonna turn vegetarian and only make exceptions for special occasions.

High blood pressure? I rarely eat meat like once or twice a month. Chicken and fish a few times per week and the rest is plant based. Pretty much cut all my cholesterol numbers in half in two months. Also doing exercise and trying some natural pills cause statin don't make you feel great.

But if you ask Keto dieters they'll tell you it's all the fault of carbohydrates, sugar instead of red meat and butter. I've read a lot of books on diet, health lately and my conclusion is that it not so much the food, but what's been done to the food. Argentina eats the most amount of red meats in the world, yet their cardiovascular disease rate is half that of the US. Likely because of the quality of the meat, being grass fed instead of grain fed to the point they're metabolically sick and insulin resistant. It's a very interesting rabbit hole the whole nutrition, diet, health thing.

That may be true but thats comparing apples and oranges if you factor in the amount of fast food americans eat.

Eat food that dilate your arteries so that your heart doesn't have to pump as hard. My BP was going into the 90s after having readings of 170 in the drs office, but it seems I also have a case of white coat where anxiety makes my BP rise.

TLDR: Balanced, healthy diet (quality stuff) and exercise is your best help. Pills if you really need them, but the point is to get off of them.

Right. The big culprit is the overall American diet. Candy for breakfast, HFC Syrup everywhere, thousands of extra calories per day. We are over fed, but under nourished of real food.

But processed meat is Lunch meat and whatever you eat at restaurants are loaded with sodium. And if you eat a lot of junk like chips, that's also a lot of sodium build up from there.

It's not just sodium intake and meat though he has to be careful about. Not eating a well balanced diet, not exercising enough, having a fucked sleep schedule and not getting 7-8jhrs a day... and just having parents who have high blood pressure will increase your likelihood of elevated blood pressure.

Like I said, eating any kind of red meat or poultry can increase your risk of heart disease significantly. Thats completely independent of sodium content.

that being said, i googled this condition about salt crystals in urine, and apparently it can be caused by high sodium and/or high protein diets, so yeah, if that's the case, then maybe he should lay off the meats temporarily, but it doesn't sound like that's what was communicated to TC by their doctor.
I didn't say all meats are processed.. Just that lunch meats and other processed meats, plus eating out have higher sodium than normal.

I think your doctor is a pretty bad one. Honestly though most doctors suck. I think what your doctor meant is for you to stop eating lunch meat/deli meats and fast food. That should solve your sodium problem.

Doctors typically recommend no more than 3 servings of red meat a week. There is an increase chance of colorectal cancer from a consumption of processed and red meat.
