too bad it's all out of place given the cookie cutter perfectly clean streets with thick neon yellow lane markings.

I am enjoying the game though, they brought in some good QOL updates (weapon wheel, placing waypoints) without affecting the core gameplay too much.

also it feels good having more money after an hour of playing than you ever get in GTA5's campaign...

it seems like pressing triangle to carjack is inconsistent. it's like it wants to you to be standing a certain way to trigger it which can be finicky especially if you're being chased and trying to get a passing car. i think on ps2 it was very forgiving and you could be standing just near it and he would close the gap automatically and get it

I could have sworn the original had one too, no? Except in this game there's a lot more contrast and vibrant colors so it's easier to make out gun shops and spray 'n' pay locations.

Yeah I've noticed that, too, especially with vehicles where the doors are raised higher (like pickups).

I noticed it too. It's resulted in a few tense situations where I'm being shot and I'm just sitting there taking damage for a moment before I realize I'm NOT getting into the car and wheeling away.

Oh also they added some auto-saves at the beginning of missions so if you die or fail you can just restart directly at the cutscene, which is *really* nice. I don't think the original version had that. It's also been like 20 years so I don't remember lmao.

What about an opposite but kind of related situation where you've got a couple of stars and you just run away on foot and the cops just stop chasing you and the stars go away lmao

gta3 ps2 had no pause screen full map. only the paper map and in game radar.

vc was the first game to have the pause map.

gta3 emergency missions were hard because you can't properly plan a route.

Ah ok thanks, totally forgot about that. Yes there is a pause menu map now.

Also though I doubt you'd have any trouble routing anything now, the map is so ridiculously small and I already remembered where everything is at least on the first island.

Alsoo....

Doing the Dead Skunk in the Trunk mission: Saw a car with headlights on in the parking lot by the car I'm supposed to pick up, ram it, it's the Forelli brothers! They ... teleported across the parking lot to ram me somehow? It was weird, I saw them on the far side of the lot and they went behind the building and all of a sudden they are right there hitting me.

Oh, there's also a better draw distance or memory so if you leave a car and drive halfway across the map there's a good chance it'll still be there when you come back.

also some of the weird late 90s game design elements are still present af. Like the gas station on the first island has really long islands for like 3 pumps, but then each one only has... one pump each. It's like they threw it in there so you knew it was a gas station but they were too lazy to CTRL + C then CTRL + V the pumps a couple more times.

There are also some really weird as shit water effects now after a rainfall. It's supposed to be your tires kicking up water, except it looks like a motorboat cruising down a river with the amount of water being kicked up, especially since the roads are like 60% dry.

There's a lot of fun quirky moments in this game that I don't remember seeing in 4 or 5.

Like other characters jacking cars.
Or, I just stole a car and these two guys who were crossing the road in front of me just started fighting for some reason and I bumped them and my hood popped up lmao. Or ramming target vehicles until they burst into flames but the NPCs just ride it to their death.

Also funny how short the cutscenes for missions are. I wonder if anyone's measured the average cutscene length between all the GTA games? I remember some long ones in 5. In 3 they're just like, "There's this guy, he's a rat, kill him."

Lol! Play VC and visit a dock. NPCs on the dock will push one another, and eventually several will fall off the dock and into the water and die. I cautiously walked to the end of a dock, to scope out the nice views, and found two dead people floating. I turn around and there were three more thrashing around in the water before expiring. People were dying left and right!

I noticed my RS Game Launcher was set to "offline mode" and my achievements aren't popping up on my profile online (not like it matters since who the fuck uses RSC), except I'm trying to fix this and it keeps telling me I can't log in to offline mode and online mode failed...

lmao who designed this shit? I think EGS might somehow be better.

ok the deal with carjacking is you can't be pressing the control stick unless you are touching the door. when the stick is in neutral it's as lenient with the distance as it has always been
