Im not sure on the age of the fridge. Its a Maytag. It was here when we moved in a few years ago.

lmao ><. i faced a similar situation like yours. i had to rely on a shitty micro fridge until my ex-boss donated a used fridge. could've asked the landlord to replace it but he was too cheap (no problem to replace appliances for new tenant). not for me.

even paid super high rent.

wish i could be of help in offering advice. either have to bite the bullet and buy a new one or get a used fridge (either micro or full sized). hate to say craigslist but it's one way.

Damn your fridge must have been huge to fit all those groceries. We meal plan too for a family of five but are only getting big orders every couple weeks, but our fridge is packed after a grocery run of $200.

That is unfortunate timing though.

This is why you need a backup fridge

Coolers with ice or bags of ice in the fridge part with something to catch the water as it melts. Coolers would probably be easier though. There really isn't anything you can do until you get a new one unless you know someone who will let you keep food at their house.

That's weird. My freezer just pumps it's own cold air into the fridge at a slower rate. Either both or neither would work.

Actually the explanation maybe is pragmatic. There's a crack in the sealing of the fridge or the door otherwise won't close properly.

Should be able to take the back (as in inside the fridge back) panel off and if there is ice buildup then you can take a hair dryer to it.

That will make it work for a few more days until u get a new fridge or new part.

You can try defrosting your fridge, one of the common reason for the temp issue is that condensation built up around the fan and froze it. Or the drainage hole under the heating element that defrosts your fridge is frozen.

So what you can do is try opening the back panel inside the fridge and using a blow dryer to melt the ice. To melt the ice in the drainage, pour some hot water down it, if you have a baster you can use that.

If your freezer is still cold, then your vent might be stuck shut. Find out where the pass-through vent from the freezer to the fridge is. You might be able to jam something in there to keep the air flow going. Be aware, though, that (if it works) your fridge will be coded than normal because that vent is supposed to open and close. If you leave it open, too much cold air will pass through. It will keep your food safe, though.
