I skipped out on the original trilogy as a kid.

I'm not one for kiddy 3D platformers but this looks like it has some pretty interesting combat. How would you describe this game?

Is it more about combat than platforming or more platforming than combat? Is there any exploration?

Much better than the awful N. Sane Trilogy which was ruined by the altered hit detection.

It was fun. Spyro was a series I didn't really care about or play back in the day for reasons, so when I tried the trilogy remaster I had a good time.

It looks nice, offers some relatively stress free open world platforming, and while I don't care about collecting gems it's there if you want. I like that the remaster offers quality of life improvements like better camera control, that was a godsend.

Overall nice breather of a game in between meatier long rpgs and such

The third game is busted in the remake unfortunately. They really rushed that one out and never patched it. Like it's still playable and all, but some parts are really janky. Otherwise they're all great.

Something to note is Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon cannot be played without a mandatory download.
