Im willing to be proven wrong but I expect it to be a more boring affair than Eurovision with tons of songs sounding exactly the same (RnB and Country anyone? >_>).

Yeah, as much as I kind of agree with the American Gods "America is made of 50 different countries" idea we just don't have enough cultural variance for this to fly.

On a state-by-state level, I mean. America is incredibly diverse but not by state.

Hearing songs in different languages and genres you usually dont hear is one highlight with Eurovision.

This year the Top 5 had 4 songs not in English. The winner in Italian, the #2 and #3 in French and #5 in Ukranian. Only 1 of the past 5 winners has been solely in English: The Netherlands in 2019. The others have been in English-Crimean Tatar, in Portoguese, in English-Hebrew and before mentioned Italian.

Yeah, the different languages is one of the big appeal. The whole world gets to hear songs in English from UK/America every day, so nice to hear something different.

At least as someone in an English speaking country anyway, I'm sure ones that don't hear stuff in their own language plenty. But still, very few make it to an international stage.

I just don't see this concept being big in the US

I liked Eurovision when it had the language rule in effect. It makes the songs reflect their country's culture more.
I mean, when they can perform in English, why bother singing a delicate folk tale with a bouzouki when they can sing an accessible bubblegum electro-pop ditty of the likes that have been heard a hundred times on the radio station for the past few years?
