Where are all the people who supposedly hate Nickelback? I see a lot of people saying they're hated but never seen anyone who actually hates them. And I don't see how you could hate them given that they only had a couple hit songs 20 years ago and haven't been relevant since then.

It's mostly metalheads who were fans of the thrash acts Roadrunner had on the roster at the time they signed Nickleback, so they gave Nickleback a chance on the basis that they hadn't steered them wrong before, and got greeted with mainstream radio rock. They didn't take it well.

It used to be a lot more common a decade ago. Especially online. I think Imagine Dragons has taken their place now. I think the same thing about them. They're generic and safe but overly hated due to their popularity.

Nickelback is hated because they're poster boys for a certain kind of generic rock music that's seen as lame. Overall they're very meh sometimes ok, sometimes habit cringe.

I think the number of people who actively listen to and follow Nickelback is relatively small, but the type of generic inoffensive rock they make is perfect background noise for just about anything so they make a fortune licensing it

Their early stuff isn't terrible, the problem was that radio stations overplayed their hits on Silver Side Up and after that Chad and co. realized that they didn't have to try anymore so they put out crap and still made bank.
