Current Events > Marvel feels diluted with so many new series

For C, D list characters, that makes it very hard to imagine a potential new avengers movie and caring about it. Who is supposed to be carrying MCU now? Who will be the equivalent of Tony Stark or Cap? Where is the new looming threat? Not saying that makes it bad. Its been nice getting a more full character development, but the MCU seems lost, stalled for the moment with the introduction of so many new characters

That's how the MCU started, though? People have this weird revisionist history thing about this. Hell, Blade wasn't "A-list" either, if you want to go pre-MCU.

Iron Man was like B, B-. Had a presence every now and then in cartoons and has been essential in many story arcs.....but.....who the fuck is moon knight? Then again Black Panther became one of highest grossing stand alone super hero movies

You are aware that Moon Knight is pretty popular with comic fans, right? If they went with your ideas, we'd only ever see Spider-Man and X-Men films. Or, for DC, only get Superman and Batman for the umpteenth time.

I don't understand this kind of argument at all. Yes, there are lots of characters you may have never heard of before. So? Can't you just enjoy new things?

Sure, I'm super stoked for No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness, but I'm almost as stoked for Moon Knight and House of Harkness. I love the expansion of the world beyond stuff I knew when I was a kid.

Not the point. I'll most likely watch and probably enjoy these new characters if they keep up with the average quality of marvel movies/series. Should have ended it at Endgame and moved onto the X-Men to start a new MCU.

That sounds like you're comparing this current phase with the 10 years that came before it, which is the wrong way to look at things. This is no different than Phase 1, really. They have to build things up like they did previously. As for vision, they're clearly building towards a multiversal threat with Kang, along with a couple other things (Young Avengers, Dark Avengers, etc.)

A single company can have dozens of characters, but you cant really have them all in the same universe or it will start getting messy from a timeline and plot perspective.

Wouldn't that depend on when Moonknight became active?

it just feels forced. Like even dr strange seemed a bit late to the game to me, but they made it work. Spider-Man was late too, but it works.

moon knight, now thats late lol.

and to be honest I havent seen Shang chi or iron fist but I have a hard time telling how theyre different powers wise

How so? He's not some founding member or anything and he's street-level, which isn't something the Avengers really deal with.

I just look at it like he didn't start his heroic career until recently, which is probably how they'll play it.

I just hope X-Men gets this much breathing room when they finally ramp up production. It'll be sad if D list avengers get whole movies while dozens of B/C list X-Men barely even get a cameo.

As long as they maintain quality. I didn't like Black Widow too much, and thought it was going to fizzle, even though the show series have been good. But then I watched Shang Chi and got kind of excited again.

They went mainstream with the most popular characters and likely didn't think it would be this much of a success. People are still watching, and there are a lot of very cool Marvel characters they could introduce that are recognizable to comic fans, but not really for casual fans. Moon Knight is a big one for me, they can intertwine it with Punisher in the future if they go that route, who knows.

I'll keep watching as long as the stuff is still enjoyable.

I mean they are already building up to a big bad dude the celestials and kang the conquerer and most of the shows and movies are either introducing new heroes into the mix or world building like showing the effects after the blip or promoting side characters to main characters.

WandaVision and Loki are already starting to set up the story of this phase, and Spider-Man and Dr. Strange are coming up soon and will clearly be getting into the real meat of it.

New looming threat? Kang the Conqueror

New Ironman/Captain America? Spider-Man seems to be doing a good job. They also have The Hulk, Thor, new Captain America and did you forget they own the X-Men and Fantastic 4 now?

hulk is now the unaggressive, super friendly hulk banner hybrid.

Thor is now a fat lazy weepy alcoholic

does the new cap even have powers?

i know I will be attacked for this and called bigot or something, which is ironic because a mod here is trying to get me banned for not loving rittenhouse or people like him, but to be honest, I hate this substitute-fest that Marcel is doing.

hulk? Gotta substitute with she hulk. Thor? Gotta substitute with she-Thor. And this is on top of the substitution of captain America , the killing of Ironman and possible substitution for riri, etc.

I like characters the way I saw them first
