I have an optometrist appointment tomorrow because I havent gotten glasses in 5+ years and my rx sunglasses are held together with garden twine.

Sometimes its a pain to have to switch between sunglasses and regular glasses, so Im wondering about transition lenses. The issue is that they seem to take too long to darken. Thoughts? Im leaning toward having a pair of regular and a pair of sunglasses made again, but I only have tonight to decide.

Might as well.

They don't change right away but they work quite well.

Mine get dark as shit

They make a little bit of a difference, but they're not make-or-break. I like mine, but a lot of the time I don't even notice them until I go inside and I can barely see for a minute.

I used to, but I stopped. For whatever reason, my transition lenses didn't work while inside a vehicle, and my eyes became super sensitive to sunlight as a result of the lenses in every other situation.

I've never had great ones, but they do help me out. Having to use some old non transitional ones after messing up my current pair kinda sucks.

I like mine, but I've had them too long and they don't ever go back to fully clear anymore

I've had two different sets of transitions over the years, and probably won't get a third pair any time soon. Going from the outside to inside, the transition back to clear glasses isn't very quick, and can be a hinderance; and while driving the transition isn't nearly comparable to real sunglasses.

I would recommend taking that money for the transition lenses and just getting some nice clip-on sunglasses or just splurge for real prescription sunglasses.

If you're looking to more quickly and decisively let people know that you're a huge nerd, then transition lenses are for you.
