If they have the right connections to people who can take them far?
Wife is arguing with me that most people still get jobs because of merit but. I think 90% of the time its all about who you know in the companies. ESPECIALLY the desirable companies that everyone wants to work for. Hell I wont even be surprised if a person doesnt know anything at all about the industry yet the company will train the right person who gets along with everyone, is friendly, and fits in with the work culture Thoughts? --- Pinoy Pride, 1988 - the day I die! ... I've known people who lie on their resume and say they went to college or even graduated high school when they didn't. Even lie about experience.

Okay, funny story. I did a full on Kramer back in the 90s.
I applied for a job that I didnt get, but I wasnt 100% certain becauseI dont remember now. But I knew the day of orientation and training was set to follow. So I go to orientation and theyre having trouble finding my name, but said, its okay, just have a seat. A couple days of training pass and Im pulled to the side, Uh..we didnt hire you. So Im like, Well, Im here now. :). And they responded with, Goodbye. And escorted me out. ^I have as well Yeah, some organisations are particularly bad for it. I've worked in a couple where to climb the ladder, you generally needed to move departments. To do this, you'd need a good reference from your line manager, but they'd tend to give the best references to the people they didn't mind losing, for obvious reasons. It led to a culture of the leadership being the least competent people working there for the most part. ... Copied to Clipboard!
