Even the Let's Go games let you get the Alola forms. I'm glad that HG/SS threw in a few gen 4 evolutions like Mamoswine that you could get during the main game (because their evolutions had conditions that you could achieve without needing something from the postgame) and that you could trade in Hoenn/Sinnoh Pokemon if you really wanted to. If people want to do a "pure" playthrough with only Pokemon that were available in the original game, they can. But I think taking away the option for other people to play through a familiar region with new Pokemon as a way to shake things up is stupid. Its very obvious that the jump from Gameboy/DS/3DS to the switch was bigger than GF or TPC are willing to admit. Some of the newer Pokmon arent the same art style as this remake.
