Its a liability thing to protect themselves. The more info you give, the more ammo you might give to someone to claim discrimination or some such. Big companies like Google and Amazon are giant targets for lawsuits and have massive recruiting teams. Which means more rooms for human errors. So they just make it a policy not to share feedback. Also some candidates will argue with the feedback or claim they didnt get the right questions, etc. I personally avoid giving specific feedback unless I think its something thats easily digestible that can help them in the future. Your experience with ABC is great but XYZ is not as extensive as what is required for the role, try getting more hands on experience with it and try again in 6-12 months. But Im not going to tell a candidate that the reason we are passing is because they talk in circles, dominated the conversations and none of their answers had any depth. Or jumped to problem solve without asking clarifying questions first (which I always warn them not to do in my prep calls).
