10k in dollars is less than 7.5k over here. I'd imagine most people with a salary that isn't complete shit have that by my age, whether in cash or invested in something.

It's extremely common for sub 30 years olds in debt living paycheck to paycheck. Don't even qualify for welfare if working over 20 hours a week.
