Zero. All of my cars have been used. I anticipate this trend continuing for the rest of my life.

Just my current, 3 years ago. Got a good deal on it with a good downpayment, and with the current used car trend it's worth almost what I paid for it new.

ZERO. And Ive miraculously had great luck with cars, both with how long theyve lasted me and how cheap Ive been able to get them.

Of course, the law of averages should mean the 2nd half of my life will give me a bunch of crap cars, so I shouldnt be celebrating.

I probably could've gotten a cheaper pre-owned luxury sedan if I'd tried hard enough, probably even after adding an aftermarket sound system. I feel like I wasted money on a fully-loaded car with a JBL system that have rear speakers not working already.

One. My 2020 Army Green 4runner. I plan on keeping it for at least 10 years. Before that I had a crappy 2004 F-150. It lasted me 12 years though.

Two. The first car I ever bought was in 2002. It was 2001 Red Cavalier. I drove it 324k and some change miles. Drove it down to see my GF (now wife) when she was in college, back and forth to work, and so many other places. I loved that thing.

I finally had to retire him back in 2019 after the AC compressor went out for the third time. Sold him to a guy I work with who had the same model that he drove as a beater car back and forth to work for parts. Instead he ended up fixing the stuff that was wrong and giving it to his daughter so it's still out there driving around.

My next car I bought in 2019 is a 2018 Prius 2 model. I've enjoyed it thus far.

One. It was a good car (Honda) but the whole dealership/financing/haggling experience was very unpleasant. Plus, there were a couple recall issues, that were minor but still something.

Now I get something just off lease from a no-haggle place like Carmax. I bring my own financing (if necessary) from my credit union. The depreciation has already hit, the features are modern, it's been inspected and has a warranty.

I then run it until it quits or needs a repair greater than it's worth (that's never happened, though).

1, just my current car I got almost exactly a year ago, 2021 Hybrid Highlander. It came with 9 miles and half of that was my test drive. Love it.
