The fights and plot beats are all fun. But the whole thing with Kaguya and bloodlines and stuff kinda ruins it.

Madara should have been the final villain, and Might Guy should've defeated him.

I mean, everything after the war starts is awful in general. Removing it from the plot raises the rest of the story up a whole letter grade.

But I loved all the stuff with Minato and Kushina. Anytime they were on screen I was like, ":)"

I stopped watching during shippuden more than a decade ago. Last thing i remember was that dude that was sorta of like a clone of naruto and can access kurama tails up to the 4th or 3rd for some reason

I really enjoyed the first series tho

The original Naruto was a good anime.
Shippuden started out pretty interesting. That battle between the old woman and Sasori stands amongst the best the show had to offer. Then it suddenly went downhill like few others did. To a point where it was almost unwatchable. The arc of that senseless war or whatever must be the worst idea for anime that was ever conceived. Rehashing old characters every other episode, it was pathetic. I won't even mention the final arc.

What gets me is that they seem very ass-pully with the powers. Does it get any better are all the battles pretty much some overpowered nonsensical shit then the protaganist will do some ass pull to win.

The "it was me DIO" thing was kinda whack and the whole reincarnation idea too. Like there were clearly better candidates for this reincarnation thing, but whatever. I agree that Madara should have been the final villain.

But: Uchiha were planning a coup of the village during a period of tension and vulnerability among the ningeopolitics. Itachi chose the option he believed would end in minimal bloodshed.

with Itachi, there was also the threat that, if he didn't kill his clan, the village elders were going to attack the Uchiha anyway, and that would had led to a civil war; if Itachi said they weren't planning anything, the elders would have just seen him as lying/in collusion with his clan


it was one of those situations with no good outcome.

yea, basically *Boruto spoilers* it's about this cyborg group that run by a dude whose body is used as a vessel by one of the aliens that Kaguya is.

and after Boruto helps kill one of the aliens in his premiere movie, he gains "Karma", which means he becomes a potential vessel for the alien he killed - it's a kinda way the aliens can achieve immortality, which is finding a suitable host, and when they're ready, they take over the host's body

I tried watching a few parts of the original series again recently. Particularly the Naruto vs Neji fight and Naruto training to learn the resengan technique.

What annoyed me about both sequences was how many flashbacks were used. I get that any Shonen anime needs to pad out runtime due to presumably strict schedules, but wow there were so many flashbacks.

The anime is def more notorious for flashbacks than the manga is. I mean, the manga uses them pretty liberally as well, but I remember one point in Shippuden where at least 4 episodes straight were just the same flashbacks each episode, but from a different character's point of view each time.

The anime was catching up to the manga so they had to do something, but jesus christ, I think that's when I finally dropped the anime for good.

isnt it a low budget, 99% filler shit show, with the extremely rare high budget fight scene

As an author myself, I don't like how Kubo can't commit to killing off characters, and even when he does kill a major character at the very end, it has absolutely no impact on anything.

A couple of heavy spoiler examples off the top of my head:

• kakashi should have stayed dead, or just not died at all. That whole pain bringing everyone back to life after the talk no jutsu was bullshit and otherwise ruined what could have been an amazing arc
• Gai sensei should have died after using the eighth gate
• Neji's death was out of nowhere and made 0 sense. It also felt like it had 0 impact on the characters. If you wanted him to die, do it properly.

Plenty more examples, like I said just off the top of my head.

Those higher-up guys have all the sway over what gets put in the story, after all. Sasuke himself was only a character Kishi was forced to create because his editors thought the series needed a rival, and later on Sasuke was only given a team because he was told to give him one as well.
