The problem is that stuff people hate doesn't get remade often because, well, people hated it.

Chrono Cross would be an exception if it's true, and I don't know why they'd remake that instead of Trigger if given the choice. An HD remaster is fine. There's stuff to like in there.

Most cries for remakes seem to be to fix something that was wrong with the original. Like, most of the demand for an FFVII remake was from people who thought the graphics were bad.

I don't really feel like that was the case. People just want modernized versions of games they already like.

Relative to how popular they were, there was way more demand for and FFVII remake than, say, FFVI or OoT or LttP or CT.

Because it's a game where it's super easy to visualize how to modernize it and make it a very different and still very good experience.

I don't think "bad graphics" was the main impetus to remake VII.

Well, that's the point. Everyone approaches a remake with the mentality of "I hope they fix this very specific list of things I didn't like and nothing else" which is silly.

And I'm sure some people didn't want it to be as different as it was and yet it was a success.

I think there's a difference between "stuff I hated" and "stuff I thought was weak"

I didn't hate the lack of character development, it's just a clear area for improvement

If someone said "Oh, great, this will give them a chance to change the Element Grid for a new battle system", that would be them wanting a change to something they hate.

Asking for story changes is somewhat of a middleground, but I think wanting the story told in a slightly clearer way with less of it conveyed via a massive text dump at the end, would also lean more towards wanting to improve an area that was lacking, not just hoping something you dislike is changed.

An HD remaster is a bit of a snoozer, unless it gets retranslated. And then look at what they did to my favorite character design in FFVIII HD and it could actually be worse.

I don't believe a game like this gets a full remake before Trigger either.

I don't even like FFVII original, so to me FFVIIR actually was my scenario.

Hell, I wasn't even going to play FFVIIR! Only reason I ended up getting it was because a bunch of people were gut reacting to it on release that it was actually trolling FFVII hard, and I wanted to be a part of that <_<

oh. I actually had her in my party for a good bit. Don't actually remember why. Might have just said "screw it, I don't want to spend time thinking about the dozens of people and how they are/aren't useful, I'm taking this person and this person and not changing unless I have to."

That I didn't remember her name or anything beyond the character design is not a good sign.
