Also I am a big KH3 apologist, I enjoyed the game a lot for what it is. But in hindsight I gotta agree with LtM about it not having potential it can live up to.

It's like the ending to Homestuck, or Game of Thrones, or the new Star Wars trilogy, or other huge beloved series that fizzle out the same way. It's almost impossible to meet these huge fandom expectations in these stories with tons of moving parts in a way that's perfectly satisfying.

And actually that's kind of just like Chrono Cross too lmao

I never finished Chrono Cross because of one of the boss characters. The fact that you couldn't just level up your characters, coupled with an inability to get worthwhile items at that point in the game meant that I couldn't get past that point.

As excited as I was with the original leak, but this whole article (interviewing some random guy?) is sketchy as hell... but I guess I will continue to put off my desired replay of CC in the hopes this happens.

They hit the print money button for FF7 Remake, if only they went full Hollywood and gave us the CT remake and the easy 2-parter FF6 remake. It's literally sitting right there, free money! Come on S-E!!!

most of the characters are pretty cool, at least in terms of design and first impression!

sadly, many of them don't get any development past that first impression

hence why a remake would be lovely

I don't know why you'd expect all those characters to get development in a remake. If anything, the most irrelevant characters get cut.

With that many characters, picking your team in CC should be like picking a team in Pokemon or Marvel vs Capcom. There weren't enough characters who were really "out there" in terms of gameplay. They weren't even as varied as FFV jobs.

I liked the game okay, but the plot really lost focus for me at some point during the part where you play as Lynx and I just wasn't feeling compelled anymore.

well the Element system doesn't really allow for a ton of uniqueness with the characters in battle

Also, there's a reason Suikoden at least has a party of 6.

With a party of 3, and Serge locked in, you only get to pick 2 characters at a time!

And the characters were totally not balanced either. I get that it's a single player RPG and the difficult isn't high, but some characters just have absolutely no reason to pick them because their stats just suck.

All in all, the issues with CC are way too big for a remaster with slight tweaks, and it's too weird and unpopular to expect them to ever go FFVIIR on it. So I expect we'll get a remaster, maybe slight tweaks, but mostly Chrono Cross in HD.

A full 3D Chrono Trigger faithful-to-the-original remake with the production values of FFVII Remake.

Getting Chrono Cross to PC is a must if anything so you can mod out that godawful basic battle theme. Chrono Cross OST is a complete masterpiece but regular battle theme is hot garbage.

It is especially jarring how the one thing that CC gets right is its music but then it manages to drops the ball with the most important music in the game which is the battle theme. Maybe they wanted something from the music to match the rest of the game's qualities.

Chrono Trigger battle theme would have been hard to top regardless.

I mean that SHOULD be people's first thoughts. They shouldn't remake games that were already good. Same goes for movies!

Only reason remakes should exist is to fix shit, or to make something that wasn't good great. You want a remake to that will make the original irrelevant.

Every remake should strive to be The Thing.
