That belief is the crux of everything, that is what needs to be defeated not the flesh it inhabits. You kill a belief by demonstrating it's lack of value/utility, truth has nothing to do with this since it's all human constructed language games so you gotta tug the heart strings and make people WANT to change their beliefs not attack relentlessly until people like you, that doesn't work. Do you think this protest/pseudo-doxxing is gonna make people more sympathetic to trans people? I think the final joke of Dave Chappelle's The Closer comes much closer to accomplishing that, it's a lot easier to build empathy from a place of joy and love than rabid activism against artists. Were the targets politicians that would not only make a lot more sense but also be way more effective

JK Rowling no as it's just happening now, but if we move back in time just a little bit to the Dave Chappelle protests you would be lying if you claim not to see how that soured public perception of trans people on behalf of only a few unhinged activists. I....really don't know much about or even care for the works of JK Rowling just calling out bad strategy when I see it.

As was mentioned, she's already S-class rich, so boycotts wouldn't say much, and even if she weren't, you do know the best way to organize a massive boycott is by getting the word out, right?

I'm not convinced you are very well versed on political strategy yourself, stuff like this only gives more ammo to the far right and accomplishes absolutely nothing. What good is supposed to come from protesting outside a famous authors house? Who is being convinced of what by this?

Of course, but JK Rowling is a significant person to protest due to the power she has. It's more effective to protest one person who has a significant effect on a hate movement than it is to post a Twitter comment saying "we reject all transphobes!". Because no doy, transphobes suck.

But here's a particularly powerful one whose influence affects the lives of these three activists, so why should they not protest them specifically?

MLK Jr was also blackmailed by the CIA in the hopes of killing himself, and when that didn't work he was murdered.

There's also a whole lot of MLK stuff that gets overlooked, presumably because it'd make moderate whites feel uncomfortable - such as the fact that moderate whites who only seem to care about maintaining the status quo are basically calling for black people to be quiet and accept their lot in life, even if they think they're being benevolent and progressive.

Even before this news article, you could Google JK Rowling's home address and see pictures of it.

It was a goof of them not to cover the house number, I'll agree, but if the average layperson can find JK Rowling's place of residence with a Google search - not a deep dive into her Facebook or some shit, but a publically available article or a line in her Wikipedia bio saying where she lives, as what happens to celebrities - I don't see this as some particularly egregious example of doxxing.

You might as well call those Homes of the Stars tours they do in Hollywood a form of doxxing. Let's face it, a lot of personal information about celebrities is out there and discoverable by your average layperson.

While I think it was a gaffe on their part, I also think the information they had to find out where she lives was probably pretty easy to find, and I don't think this was an attempt to dox so much as I think it was an attempt to further highlight how shittily JK Rowling treats trans people. It's just taken an unfortunate turn.
