Books I can only read.
Video-games I can play, read and listen.

It's about actively interacting with the world before you versus passively going though it. Same reason I prefer gaming over movie watching. Gaming is also a quicker and easier form of entertainment where it can take a bit to get lost in a good book.

Video games as a media incorporate reading. Books do not incorporate interactivity. Well, aside from choose-your-own-adventure books I guess

I remember the argument being that books stimulate your imagination, but video games don't. I disagree, but what are you gonna do?

I used to read a lot actually. There's no real reason why I stopped. I didn't always play video games. There's no real reason why I decided to do so. The two have no real connection to each other. It's not that I choose to spend more time on video games. It's that I choose not to spend time on books now. Even if I stopped playing video games, I would not change that decision as a result.

Does having an imagination make you smart tho. Did they create vaccines by imagining it >_>. Pretty sure those people had to avoid fairytale land and actually deal with real life, along with everyone else making an actual difference. This is obviously assuming by reading we don't mean books written to actually teach you a life skill. Cause at that point, why would games even be a relevant comparison in any way.

Id say to win at entertainment, you like what you like and don't be pretentious about it. That way others enjoy sharing with you and you make a network of people that might actually help you out with something important eventually lol. Or just go live in a log cabin alone with books feeling too smart for everyone else :3.

True. I think oldschool RPGs definitely take a lot of imagination too tho. The only real difference is you basically have a large still frame of each setting and the idea of a person. We're not all imagining the same exact people when we play FF4. Especially not when playing 1 lol. I dunno. How do you even compare imaginations? Tell people to draw something much bigger by only giving them very vague details or something. Cause even my own imagination confuses me. I could never tell if it was good or bad. Self esteem and what not plays heavy into your evaluation of your own imagination.
