Experts are sounding the alarm of a horrific new covid variant even more deadly and transmissable than the delta variant found in Botswana!!

Only 10 cases of the strain that could eventually be named "Nu" has been detected but has already been spotted in 3 countries suggesting it's becoming more widespread

It carries 32 mutations and is highly transmissable and vaccine resistant and has more alterations to its spike protein than any other variant

It is likely emerged in a lingering infection in an immunocompromised patient, possibly someone undiagnosed AIDS

Changes in the spike make it difficult for current jabs to fight off because they train the immune system to recognize an older version of this part of the virus

Dr Tom Peacok, a virologist in Londonc alls this mutation "horrific" and warned that B.1.1.529 has the potential to be worse than nearly everything they've seen so far now that the world is opening back and relaxing it's restrictions..

For now, some scientists say there is no need to be overly concerned as countries begin banning flights from Africa after 6 cases were spotted in South Africa, 1 in Hong Kong

The mutant variant however is sparking concern because of its "very extensive" set of mutations and will dodge antibodies once it infects even vaccinated individuals

Patients with weakened immune systems will be infected for longer periods because of the body unable to fight it off and this gives the virus time to acquire mutations that will allow to get around the body's defenses

This is why the policy of allowing covid to become endemic was (and continues to be) dangerous. Eradication of the virus should have always been the goal.

I blame Stephen Harper and his far right International Democrat Union organization for pushing endemic policies. It is bad enough he helped to elect conservative governments across the globe, but to allow any emerging virus to spread as this one has, is unconscionable and criminal.

Go back to Biology class and pay attention this time. This has been explained over and over and over to people. It's been over a year. You don't have an excuse for not understanding the basics of viral mutations and epidemiology.
