That is kinda unfortunate. This site struggles to even have 1500 users. Many reddit subs have over 13k users at this moment.

Nothing. It will die in a few years. It could be cool to try and create a new gaming website community though. Gamefaqs is old and outdated so it shouldnt be too hard to make something thats way better

I wonder what that percentage spread is across the boards. I imagine CE, Smash Bros. And the system boards are the most popular but that's just based on my own experience. Oh maybe the politics boards too.

Also TC, that's just registered users on the message boards, not across the entire site.

@Error1355 @AssultTank could you tell us what boards do you get the most moderations from? Using that we could probably tell what boards are the busiest.
If you can't tell us that's fine.

Feels like it is too late. Gamefaqs should have been at the forefront of video guides/walkthroughs but youtube and other sources took that crowd.

There was a while we didnt even have an edit button despite other forums having them.

I think you are misunderstanding what TC is saying. They are sad that other people don't like it to come here. TC DOES like it here. That's why the prospect it might be a dying site upsets them

When I went through and did a check, 261 wasn't even top 50 in terms of activity, and CE wasn't top 25.

My check was just a quick count of active, NOT archived, posts/topics.

Thanks for the answer!
I see users post board numbers like 261 occasionally but I have no idea how to use them. Setting the URL to /boards/261 does nothing for me.
Could you tell us what the top few were in no order?

The numbers always surprise me because the site very rarely seems inactive (outside of most PC games due to Steam having their own intergrated discussion forums for them). Whenever a new game comes out and I have a question needs answering, it's almost always been addressed already by someone else on that gameboard.

I think people generally come here for game related stuff and not to socialize or interact. I'm sure a lot of people on Reddit are accessing it through their phone and casually browsing which isn't generally something you'd do on GFAQs unless you were actively playing a game right then and there.

At least that's my theory anyway.

Most posters are active if they are here but moderately helpful and it's anonymous

Many posters are older on the boards as well so they've known other posters for years now plus they've been through life a bit and are more inclined to give out advice that's beneficial

True, this site is great for finding help on games. I know I and many others, used to hover on the 'answers' section for games we were really familiar with.

Yea this. Gamefaqs feels like being on myspace around the time Facebook was going big. This site could have done a lot of the stuff the other places are doing like reddit but just seems to miss the boat.

CE used to have 70-75 pages of topics on the 50 topics per page setting. Now it is often around 23-37 each day

This was a few months ago, but the top 25 were all game and system boards.

They make 261 (Politics) look slow.

Also if you do /boards/261- it works. The - is important...
