I saw it today. Ghostbusters (1984) is my favorite movie of all time.

A couple things I didn't like about it but on the whole it was excellent

I was prepared to hate it because it wasn't a comedy and was so different in tone to the original, but it ended up being pretty good just as its own thing.

Felt more like a tribute than sequel, and that's fine: Ghostbusters is a perfect movie, and trying to live up to it is futile.

I saw it for the first time Friday. It was the perfect tribute to Harold Ramis. The movie was awesome.

I haven't seen any of the series, I suspect from trailers I'll only like the first film.

Ghostbusters Afterlife, starring: Nostalgia.

It was pretty good until the awful third act. McKenna Grace is by far the best of the otherwise interchangeable cast (Podcast was decent too). Shes a major league talent overall, she has a decent pop song that plays during the credits.

If you like character assassinations on Egon this is a great movie for you lol. I know there was ultimately a reason for what he did but he was framed so poorly for most of the movie. Ive got to agree with RLM on the ethics of using CGI to replace dead actors, we dont truly know if they would have wanted to be in these movies in this fashion.

I disliked it because of the way that it characterized Egon and because it acted as if nothing had happened since the first movie. It's a depressing take.

That said, I'm glad that the response has been positive and that the door is open for more Ghostbusters.

Yeah.

It was one thing to fill in the blanks if an actor dies during filming but another to just make an entire character with a fleshed out story arc using a cgi dead actor. That felt weird to me.

I loved it because it was a solid enough movie in its own right, doesn't step on the coattails of the original, and manages to pay homage in an almost overly obsequious way. Phoebe was a great character, and Paul Rudd is pretty much the only awkward 40-something year old romcom actor in Hollywood.

Of course they did, I never said what they did was illegal. Its very questionable from an ethical perspective.
