As someone that grew up in Montana, I am not surprised to find out there is still one in Montana.

Last time I was in my hometown they still had a Shopko and that chain died an even more merciless death than Kmart.

One can blame the Carolina Premium Outlets for it's closing.

The Outlets has and sale everything in the whole wide world there.

I'm sure if Walmart didn't sale food or have automotive they'd be gone too.

I've been to the NJ ones. Always preferred them over NY ones.

I live in LI and I had no idea there was still one in Bridgehamtpon. There was one in Sayville that survived the initial closings when the NYC ones were axed, but that too was killed 2 years ago.

Bridgehampton is a weird place to keep one alive. Guess rich people love shit like K-Mart.

The last time I set foot in a K-Mart was a few years ago. It closed not long after. It was on life support for so long I'm surprised it hung on for as long as it did. The place was usually empty, shelves untouched, it resembled a warehouse.

My Sears went recently as well. I believe they had a merger with K-Mart in the early 2000's and now they're dying together. Very poetic.

I remember I used to go to Kmart as a kid before Walmart became the monolith it is today, and at that time they were largely the same as Target or Shopko. Just a generic department store.

After Walmart moved into my town, all the smaller department stores got run out of business almost immediately, but Kmart hung in there. They even renovated to become a Super Kmart, however, that was the beginning of the end. I vividly remember them always being slow to change their selection (they had N64s on sale long after the Gamecube came out), and the last 5 or so years they were open was especially sad. You could tell there was no leadership or care because every shelf would be a complete mess with merchandise randomly strewn about everywhere, often on the floor.

I miss Icees.

I went to the one in White Plains, NY earlier this year (late May).

I just looked up that they closed in September.
