It has different forms based on size, and Sword/Shield give alternate forms their own dex entries. Gourgeist's entries say that small-sized Gourgeist disguise themselves as children and fool adults into bringing them "home" to the afterlife, while large-sized Gourgeist do the opposite and pretend to be adults to lead lost children to the afterlife. There is no escaping it. Give up.
