One billion dollars, or the chance to spend a year with a passed loved one

Money is tax free. The latter will have the loved one brought back to life healthy, and normal. No zombie form, or some other odd catches, but will disappear(But will not be erased from your memory) once that one year comes up.

Well, if you had any regrets with someone that has never been resolved, taken away via disease, or crime, or what not, this will be the perfect opportunity to make up, say sorry, I love you, spend more time with them, say something you always wanted to say to them, and have a real finality, with no guilty conscience, and regret. For some people, that's even worth more than an unlimited amount of money.

No. It's a way to not only torture yourself, but also bring back someone you love just to tell them they're going to die again in a short amount of time. You're basically bringing a loved one back to life just to kill them. That's torturous to both of you. Speaking as someone who lost a spouse young and untimely, this is a fucking terrible idea.

This, I got to have a good farewell to my deceased family and they died happy and peacefully in their sleep. To bring them back would just be wrong especially knowing its only a year especially when they would be grieved a second time but possibly worse. Now it would be my girlfriend and her family who would be upset as well knowing the person I looked up to is only back for a year.

Money. Much as I love my lost friends and family, I had closure with everybody I've lost. No reason to lose them all over again.

Plus, that billion could do a lot to support the people I love who are still alive now.

The point is some kinda lifetime original movie idealism. Think of the logistics. If I were to bring my grandma back... her house is gone, my grandpa is gone, her friends have gone, the world has advanced 13 years without her.

I'd be bringing her back just to essentially be my pet, with no autonomy or income of her own, to exist for my sake for an entire year.

Sounds like a lousy thing to do to somebody who is already at peace.

Dude, if the matter is settled, then you choose the money, the latter choice are for people who had big regrets with the loved one that passed away. And it's their choice. If you don't have that, or don't need that, then just choose the money.

The only possible good thing to this is learning if there is anything after death, but if it is nightmarish they will not want to go back after a year, and we will know what awaits us in the end.

Ignorance is bliss as they say.

I could do so much good for my still living family with that money and live a life of comfort.

Losing them a second time would also be excruciating. I want to move forward not desperately cling to the past.

Also if Heaven is real I would be tearing Grandpa from a perfect existence and from Grandma who died more then a decade before he did.

It's honestly selfish to not take the money in this instance. Cause you're only thinking about yourself with the other option. The money can literally help everyone you know still alive and a bunch of people you don't know. Even if the person I loved the most died, Id pick the money and use it too help 10s of thousands and change their entire lives

I voted bring a loved one back to life.. but I dunno.

Lost my dad to cancer earlier this year. I would want bring him back even if it means I get to spend time with him again for a year and healthy.. I don't know if he would want that though, and that's like me under the assumption there would be some sort of afterlife confirmed, because the pain of losing them again, especially if they would not be okay with it, isn't cool and selfish.

if they started fading and turned into a spirit after a year and there was a good afterlife , I would consider bringijng them back.

Money for a number of reasons.

  • No one I was super close with/need closure with is dead
  • It's gonna suck for them knowing they're just gonna die in a year anyway
  • With that amount of money I could help tons of people. My friends and family would be set for life, and I could donate to charities. Hell, I know we have some people here on CE who are homeless and could use the help.

If I were the dead one, I'd prefer my family take the billion.

One year with me isn't worth what that'd do for literally everyone that comes after me assuming they managed it correctly.

If any of my family were like "bring me back for a year instead of helping our literal entire family out" I don't think I'd want them back.

How flexible are the rules for the loved one option? Can you ask them questions about post-death and get some substantial answers? Could someone make their waifu real for a year? Are they guaranteed the year or can it be cut short? If they're healthy does that mean mentally as well as physically and if so does that mean their personality could be something different to what you remember?

Quite honestly, I'd grapple with the decision because my mother's mother died when she (my mother) was 8 years old and I've only known her through what my mother and great-aunt have shared about her. I mean yeah, a billion fucking dollars but I've very sincerely always wished that I could have met her. Thankfully it's just a meaningless "what if" but yeah, if I could meet a dead relative even for like a day or two, it would be her.
