Go to the farmers market and buy better eggs, homie. Better yet, get chickens if you have the space for them.

This.

I am curious what the price difference is though, because if its $0.99 vs. $3.99 that would also make a difference.

I've literally been to the farm I get my eggs from. It's down a little dirt road outside of a tiny town, and that old man with the great Pyrenees guarding his chicken coop certainly isn't selling his eggs to the supermarket.

You think because people are poor we can't afford to spend a couple extra dollars on eggs and fresh produce every now and then?

Farmers' Markets here sell eggs by the dozen. A family of three could go through a dozen daily or at least in 2 days. The other factor is that stores unload eggs and put them on the shelf every morning. Farm fresh eggs from Walmarts are going to be a day behind?

Most people have eggs in the refrigerator for a week. What is the point of getting them direct?

Been getting farm fresh eggs for years. We go through like 4-5 dozen per week, my wife has eggs for breakfast every day and the rest of us every other day.

Store-bought eggs taste incredibly bland now by comparison, and the yolks are so pale. The difference is huge.

when around 50% of americans aren't merely living paycheck to paycheck, but actively in debt via payday loans and unable to even have bank accounts because their debt would result in any money they acquire being drained from them, yeah i think poor people mostly can't afford that

Even if you live in Manhattan you can get local eggs, city boy

His point is they don't come from the same place. Local farmers don't sell to Kroger, Kroger buys from factory farms that treat the chickens like some horrible dystopian nightmare

Eggs are like 60 calories each. Three eggs scrambled with some spinach, mushrooms and salsayoure looking at a healthy, protein and calcium rich breakfast thats less than 250 calories.

Vital Farms is a newer company that does pasture raised chickens. Their eggs are really fuckin good and are being sold in grocery stores here in Texas.

if you cant get your own chicks or get to a farmers market, pastured raised chickens produce some great eggs. Theres a night and day difference between normal eggs and cage free pasture raised eggs.

There are places in New Mexico where the closest thing to a grocery store is a gas station.
