Necessary? No. But a character introduced there will be in Hawkeye (and probably a lot of stuff going forward).

FWIW, I don't really see how the BW character can be a prominent part of the storyline they have going right now. So my guess is that they'll be a cameo and that'll be it.

In a recent interview the show runner or whoever made it clear they really wanted her in the show, that she was important, so I think it'll be more than a cameo. Or at least if it is short it should be important.
