I love both, but I'm going to give the slight edge to 1. Lost World is just too good of a stage.

Making the lightspeed dash trigger at the click of a button pretty much revolutionized 3D Sonic games.

Fishing was fun though.

Even though SA2 has Shadow, who is my favorite character in the series...SA1 is a better game. More (and better) Sonic levels, the asynchronous story design makes each playable character more interesting just to see what they're up to when you happened to run into them as a different character previously...

Chaos is an awesome creature, both design and story wise. The final battle is God damn hype...

SA2 is good, but it's got some levels that just suck the fun right out. Mostly the problem is the knuckles/Rouge and Tails/Eggman stages... but some of the later Sonic and Shadow stages that lean too heavily on rail grinding are kinda frustrating.

Basically SA1 is a more focused, overall better-designed experience where good levels outweigh the bad ones, while SA2 has the best character and a weaker selection of levels.

Sonic adventure is better than SA2 because of SA2's shitty treasure hunting stages.

Sonic levels in 1 are better, music is better, graphical style is better, setting is better, characters are better.

Whenever I go back to Sonic Adventure 2 I really struggle to pick a stage to play because there's just not that many that are actually that great. City Escape is amazing, Metal Harbour is great, and that's it really. Not that the rest are bad, but they're unremarkable at best.

They're both peak jank, but I'd say 2 is the better one.

SA2 is probably the more refined product but I respect how ambitious SA1 was even though that ambitiousness hurt it in a lotta ways.

1 has better and more Sonic levels, better Knuckles levels. Amy levels are cool. Better story and better music. The janky overworld has its charm.

I really like them both and almost voted they are equals, but I give the slight edge to SA1. I think I liked the open world more and choice of character story instead of team based story mode.

OG Dreamcast games. Screw you bandwagon gamecube players that overhype that system and it's lousy ports. The original is superior; the sequel only has a slightly better story, nothing else. Game is awful compared to the original.

The PC port with the BetterSADX mod is the best way to play SA1.

I liked SA1 better. I enjoyed the hub worlds and the Tails and Amy levels were still pretty good. It was really only the Big levels that were pretty painful. Chaos was a pretty cool villain.

For SA2 the Knuckles levels felt a lot worse when you can only track one emerald at a time for no reason. Tails and Eggman also felt worse compared to E-102. That's most of the game I overall didn't enjoy.

To be fair I didn't play SA2 until much, much later. So a large part of liking either of these games is probably nostalgia and might explain why I seem to be in the minority.

SA2 was objectively a better game, but SA1 had more heart, and kid me had a huge crush on Tikal the Echidna. The impractical chao gardens pissed me off though.

How is this even a question, sonic adventure 2 battle is classic nostalgia while sonic adventure 1 is unplayable. I've tried several times to get into it because the story looks cool but it is just un fricking playable
