That's the key point. Forgiving people that are willing to condemn their past behaviour and have since made amends is reasonable. Forgiving people that refuse to admit they've done anything wrong and insist that nobody should have a problem with their behaviour, less so.

I don't think many kids get to decorate parts of the house that aren't their own room with video game posters, and it seems unlikely that he'd do an interview in one of his kids' rooms. I think that explanation is less likely than that he either has it up because of his own interests or (more likely) put it up and staged the interview in view of it to make a subtle appeal to some of the younger demographic that is generally leaning more toward the NDP these days.

The biggest thing Justin did wrong, (in the eyes of conservatives) was be the son of a Liberal Prime Minister.

If conservatives criticized him for actual things he has done, like continue the lawsuits against victims of residential schools, or his failure to enact recommendations on MMIW, then maybe they would have some actually credibility with Canadians.

Of course, while O'Toole is on his third press Conference of the day about how strong an virile he is, and totally still in complete control of his party, the media barely has time to notice that the NDP exist, but just enough to mention they are in a *gasp* coalition with the Liberals, and are therefore scum who can never be trusted to govern no matter how many of their ideas the Liberals have passed off as their own.

Pretty much every other instance of blackface I can think of that's made headlines has involved them responding with "muh free speech!" and not any sort of actual apology. Granted, most of that impression comes from Duckbear topics, which are hardly an unbiased sample, but that nevertheless represents the majority of cases where a significant number of people are unsympathetic to the culprit (while also completely destroying your "every single time" premise, but I think everyone already knew that was a silly thing to say). In cases like Disney firing James Gunn, it's generally a very small vocal minority refusing to forgive them and the company making a knee-jerk reaction for PR's sake, rather than enough people having a problem to make a significant difference on the scale of an entire country's voter base.

Hell, not only should he not be continuing lawsuits against IRS victims, he should be declaring the Catholic Church to be a terrorist organization for as long as the pope continues to refuse to issue an apology. If the official stance of the organization is that genocide is acceptable, that's not an organization that should be allowed to operate on Canadian soil.

Of course, the official stance of most Canadian governments has also been that genocide is acceptable, so perhaps that's the first problem we should be solving.

They probably aren't, no, but you underestimate the lengths to which politicians will go to appeal to the youth without actually understanding how to appeal to the youth. See that video Ajit Pai did with the fidget spinner and whatnot for a particularly cringe-worthy example.

I think it's a fairly safe assumption. Especially with a poster like that, which has relatively little intrinsic artistic merit beyond appealing to fans of the game, I wouldn't expect the kid(s) to be able to decorate common areas of the house with such specific personal interests. Their bedrooms? Sure. Whatever room all the gaming happens in (I'm presuming Trudeau can afford an extra TV room or two)? Sure. But an area that's not only used by everyone, but from which Trudeau would conduct an interview with the press? That seems unlikely to me.
