I decided to go out during the shitty weather here and do a comedy set. I'm still working on my material so I was nervous but got through it and had my best set ever. After my set a guy sat next to me and said we went to high school together. I instantly recognized him because we were teammates on the track team and he was one of my favorite people.

We're 2000 miles away from Chicago where we grew up. He's just visiting with his girlfriend but they could possibly move here. I was just so grateful to see him randomly, that he decided to wander in a random open mic and that I got the nerve to go up and do well tonight. We talked for half an hour and caught up afterward. His girlfriend is really cute and I'm glad to see him doing well. We were both so angsty in high school (I still am, but that's beside the point). This totally made my week, especially with how lonely I've been up here the past couple years.

Incidentally, this is the second time something like this has happened where I saw someone from my childhood around here but this was a special night.

It was such a cool and unlikely thing it almost seems like part of some sappy "growing older" type of story.

No, I think they met in college. She's a doctor and quite attractive so he seems to be punching up in that regard, lol.

Nice. If I see most of the people from high school ever again, then they shouldn't recognize me and if they do I'm just gonna keep minding my business and ignore them.

That's cool.

I just found out my favorite bartender will be picking up shift just a little distance from home.
I haven't seen her in years, and it's great news.
There is a slight chance the place, which is just opening starting on Jan 2.
I actually watched it close down during early Covid, at another job, so close.

There is a slight chance, and a perceivable timeline, where we might be coworkers.
Either way...she was always awesome to me, and just seeing her after everything will be nice.
It's a win - win and the best news I've had in a while.

There are certain people about whom I would say this but this is someone I considered a friend.

I was 21 and in jail when I hear my name, turn around, and see a guy I went to grade school with in a guards uniform. He said something like, I didnt expect and I walked away.

Lots and lots of its a small world scenarios the longer you go. Its been like that for me. I dated someone whos mother knew my mother when they were both pregnant with us. We met when we were in our 30s. Our mothers hadnt spoke since they were pregnant. Its a trip.

Cool that youre doing sets and giving it a go. Courage is impressive.
