The big one here is getting a lot of criticism for putting animals down left and right for literally anything. As well their treatment of the animals and staff.

maybe one day we will get a President that is a huge pet person. There should be a government program, no animal can be put down unless its medically urgent at that point. And big facilities where they can essentially be free until theyre ready to be adopted.

Id gladly take more out of my taxes for that tbh

As a volunteer i have seen staff who are not animal people. Kind of a sad situation.

The real regulation needs to start with breeders. Many or all states dont require any licensing or training or what have you. Any fucko can breed their dogs and just sell them, damned be the genetics.

Now were stuck with all these breeds that have no business even existing and they have to suffer.

So long as people pay money for dogs, instead of getting a free puppy out of a cardboard box in front of walmart, this will always be a thing.

Need to kill the culture around pet breeding. The real underlying issue is that there's not enough demand for adoption through shelters. Everyone wants their specific breed, from when they are puppies.

I really would prefer we had some standards similar to human adoptions, or at least halfway there. Too many people get dogs knowing nothing about dogs, so now there's a fucking breed that has a risk of eyeballs popping out when it sneezes.

Is this a real thing?

When my pets died, nobody ever tried to bullshit me about it. They just flatly told me they were dead. It comes to us all and one day my family and I will be dead too.

And I don't really get the wisdom in pretending animals don't die to kids. I mean the kids have to learn about and prepare for death at some point. A hamster or dog or cat dying is a better first encounter with death then their sister or mom being the first time they deal with it.

Ha, it's true for cats as well, though. But my mind did go immediately to the worst offending.

Pugs are very prone to eye proptosis. The poor little guys, basically balls of genetic disorders. Should be illegal to breed them.
