Not sure if you guys have seen this in the news, but there has been a serious exploit discovered in Java that makes it very easy for people to remote access your computer and plant malware. This Java log is run in tons of online servers such as Minecraft and Steam. Make sure to download any patches as soon as they are released.

Hm, anything else we should do besides downloading patches?

The scary thing is there's really nothing to prevent it. Also affecting certain iCloud services. I would suggest Googling it for more info on the exploit. This just became known on thursday/friday, and companies are scrambling to patch it.

I mean the only real defense is to minimize your exposure to cloud based services until this blows over. Like I'm sure the major players like Steam and Apple are patched by now, but if they're not, try not to use em.

Beyond that it really only affects you if you're a provider of web based stuff or if you're IT who needs to be aware of which of those providers are touching their networks.

At least this is how I understand it.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the ransomware attack that hit the time-clock/payroll system we use at work over the weekend.
