So, let me see if I got this right. In a dungeon, which is relatively easy, you found one player drastically under-performing. Using third-party software no less not actively supported by the game. You proceeded to try to vote-kick him and, when that failed (presumably because he hadn't done anything to cheese off anyone else), you then refused to leave yourself because you didn't want to deal with the penalty. You didn't try to explain to him that he needed to step up his game or ask if another player could help him out.

You chose to play in a group setting with other people, not performing your best or even attempting the bare minimum is inexcusable.

Here's the thing. The vote kick system exists for a reason. If the other group members had a problem, they could have kicked him. Obviously it wasn't bothering them much.

The main difference being he was probably just goofing around with friends and having fun in a game, while you used unsupported software that can only ever be used to critique and look down on others and then went to rant about them online.

You keep mentioning the bare minimum. If he didn't do the bare minimum you guys wouldn't have finished the dungeon, so in actuality he did perform the bare minimum needed to finish the dungeon.

to be clear, it's not really your fault that you have this mentality. the game being very easy and being so obsessed with pumping the tires of its players would have created you eventually, and in fact, has created you many times over. LFR heroes are pretty awful but ffxiv dungeon heroes are like, on a different level. like imagine being the best guitar hero player ever so long as it's on medium. that's you.

TC is correct. FF14's community enables extremely lazy play (Mostly because it's easy to carry, and generally 1-3 players out of a 4/8 man party will be competent enough to clear the majority of content), and then those who were enabled think it's okay to join Extremes/Savages/Ultimates and expect the same treatment. Then when they get kicked from those for not doing the bare minimum of...you know, using their classes abilities, they act like "elitism" is a problem.

It's a tale as old as time, and the people in this thread clearly don't ever have to deal with people joining PF's and even statics expecting to get carried and holding everyone else up, and then having the gall to cause drama about it.

No ones even asking for these players to be ZOMG PRO PLAYERS (not that it's hard to be hyper competent in this game from a rotation/skill use perspective in the first place), they want players to, you know, actually contribute so shit doesn't end up taking forever.

Anyway, yeah FF14's community is toxic, but in a different way from most other MMO's. It's full of fake positivity, passive aggression, and a complete hatred for anyone who has any semblance of criticism about the game or its community. It's still the best MMO community, but that bar is extremely low, and it isn't exactly deserving of any rewards lol.

I mean if you're parsing and you notice one player only using level 6 skills... what's stopping you from quitting

As I said before you get a debuff penalty where you can't requeue for 30 minutes

So it's more efficient to just stay in the group and finish without complaining. Just do that next time.
