It's the big conclusion to the story arc the game has been building up since release

The story is great imo. Nothing out there like it that i've played.

I had no idea. My buddy and I were just thinking of sinking a few hundred hours into Warframe and we dabbled...holy shit, pretty overwhelming amount of content to tackle. Not sure if I really want to do this.

it's not the end of the story, but it's the end of the current story arc kind of like how endwalker is the end of the story arc in FFXIV.

Good news, they recently patched the game to guide new players through content much more easily. Aside from more tutorials, it has a little "do this next" reminder between missions.

The game is doing okay at funneling so far. What I really meant is that I'm not sure if I want to commit to a lifer game after seeing just how much content there is after all these years. It's daunting to see 15-20 planets/satellites with numerous strikes of varying types. I don't see actual content...I see years of my life. lol

And...I've already done this. I have 2,500 hours in the Destiny franchise. Another 1,000+ for The Division, Anthem, Outriders, MHW...all these lifer games. I think my buddy just misses our time grinding, and the PvP, and the grinding...but he's forgetting the stress and sometimes anger that comes with that lifestyle. I don't really miss all that, but do sorta miss the 'comfortable old shoe' that we played in the evenings.

Eh, you can reasonably get through almost all the content in like 2 months if you tryhard. 4-5 months if you play casually a couple times a week. You can sink a ton more hours in if you try to get every weapon/warframe in the game and get everything meta, but it's not required at all.

Huh...okay, that's good to know. Appreciate that knowledge.

I like the game. I think it's fun. I'm kind of confused about the difficulty, though...I am super, super early in the game. I'm not even off earth yet. We just started.

So far, there's zero challenge, so I'm assuming I'm still in the tutorial difficulty. But, if this game is just blitzing through map after map one shotting everyone, I'll get bored quick. Do you have any reassurance?

That's literally the entire game. It's a series of incredibly lengthy grinds to get your frames, to get your abilities, to build your custom weapons, to get the kind of pet you want, upgrade your flying thing, etc.

For all its variety, you're going to spend 99% of your time playing one specific stage in 10 minute intervals on loop forever because the community has determined that it's the most efficient way to grind for XP and drops so that's all anybody does.

With gameplay and customization this good, its your own fault if you turn it into a grind.

Just hit MR30 after three years of playing and I cant say Ive spent a single second "grinding", I just play the game and try new things. Dont look for shortcuts and ez strats, because that will guarantee a one way trip to grindtown.

How I see it, the gameplay is incredibly fun, the grind is just playing the game, so the grind is fun because you're doing fun gameplay.

Also, this was true maybe back in 2017-2018 or so, but they've done a fantastic job of squashing repeating the same mission over and over. Between your steel path dailies, relic missions, sorties, and nightwave goals, you will be playing all sorts of different missions types across all the various tilesets.
