Though given the population differences in Florida and Vermont, the graph might be better if it was a 'deaths per thousand' or something, but there is still a vast difference in deaths between the two states. >_>

That's correct, although I figured showing that Vermont's mortality being in single digits was enough

Deaths per day in Sweden.
85.2% for 1 dose, 80.9% for 2 doses and 23.2% for 3 doses. This is everyone born in 2009 and earlier.

But the vaccines weren't even available until halfway through the time period on the graphs. Some of those places had larger peaks after vaccines rolled out. Don't get me wrong, everyone should get vaccinated and boosted and antivaxxers are a blight on the planet, but do these graphs actually help?

Wasn't Delta more deadly than 'original flavor' covid to the unvaccinated?

All of these numbers include pre-vax tbh

to make this data interesting youd have to present the charts as deaths per 1M over time

if I was an anti-vaxxer (Im not) this topic is doing a poor job of changing my mind

I'm not sure on the time frame so someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the deaths spike when they removed all prevention measures, so this shows that masks and distancing actually worked.

This. I'm 100% pro vaccination but these graphs are mostly meaningless. A place like Vermont with small, isolated populations is going to have far fewer deaths than a large, dense state like Florida regardless of anything.

In the same vein, smaller, more unified/homogenous nations like Japan are more likely to follow precautions and have less infections/deaths.

If anything, these better demonstrate how cultural attitudes reflect on deaths, more than vaccination rates.

This is why your graphs need to be normalized by population and not just copy pasted from worldometers to have any meaning

no. there's probably very few trumpists or Qanists that choose to not get vaccinated or lessen the risk of getting infected in the first place ie mask wearing and handwashing.

I dunno about the "more likely to be seriously ill" claim, but one I've seen going around is that "vaccination makes you more likely to spread it once a lot of people are vaccinated", and this one I actually see how those behind the misinformation twisted the facts to arrive at that.

Basically, comes down to them finding lines in scientific communications like "at [80% or 90%] vaccination rate, more transmission will come from vaccinated people than unvaccinated people". To someone who doesn't think very far into it themselves - and keep in mind that the people they con don't tend to do much thinking - you can see how this would lead to them getting the wrong impression. What the misinformation-pushers will never point out is that this means it takes 4 or 9 (depending on whether the figure's 80% or 90%) vaccinated people, to cause the same level of transmission as just a single unvaccinated person, and therefore contrary to what they try to say it means, it's actually very good evidence that the vaccine does work - and if it didn't, the scales would tip at 50%, not 80% or 90%.
