I've been feeling the itch to get into a new fighting game and thought this DnF one looked neat(I had no idea the original game even existed and was like 16 years old). Both of the beta's will only be on PS4/5 despite them also releasing on other platforms, they both have rollback netcode, you apparently don't need PS+ to participate, and they release later tonight at these times:

I didnt like the kof beta all to much, but i didnt give it a proper chance. But ill playing both this weekend

The DnF Duel beta is up on PSN now. I just finished downloading it. I like the menu music, and holy shit every room I try to enter runs out of space before I connect.

So far I've encountered like 2-3, bugs within the 1st few minutes

I had the room search menu go invisible twice, but I could at least tell where I was by looking at the prompt at the bottom of the screen. I also can't connect back to the game after my first four matches ;_;

Squeezed in about 4 online matches before it went to maintenance. Striker vs Kunochi and Hitman

It was fun and the connection felt great. I think I went up against a Korean player too!

Did CPU battle as Striker, Hitman, Vanguard, and Inquisitor, and Striker is the Main it seems

I'm enjoying it

Not that I'm against forcing everyone online for fighting games, but I kinda wish they would add a training mode whenever the system is down

Not doing the beta, but I will give DNF a go. I haven't played in well over a decade, but I still have love for DFO, even if every single thing outside of the core gameplay is an absolute mess.

They better have Monk when it goes gold, so help me.

Im really enjoying DnF Duel so far. Its fun.

Well I played like 10-ish DnF Duel matches against this one guy earlier and had a blast. I think Vanguard and Dragon Knight feel like my favorites to use so far. Striker's special canceling feels nice too, but I've like barely played her and don't remember her inputs off the top of my head yet. I have to get used to using the actual dodge mechanic and conversion canceling.

Did about 20 matches in a row in a striker mirror. Connection was flawless, forgot I was playing online.

So far I'm really enjoying it. Everything looks and sounds great. Striker is really fun and I'm at the cusp of actually learning some longer combos

I think the health system is great. Not too low, and a decent Regen when you on the offensive. I kinda wish this was how BBTAG did it.

This game so far feels like Granblue but much better

25 matches and literally no problems. The beta is kinda janky and buggy so you might get random disconnects

How about for KOF?

I havent tried it online, but apparently its good too, or at least better than the 1st online beta

I barely touched KOF so far but it didn't have server issues and the matches have been pretty good there too. In DnF I never saw the Rollback frame delay or whatever higher than 4, so I'll check KOF later tonight to see how smooth the matches are.

It feels a little more grounded than I would prefer, but I think once people perfect rolling and countering it will get quite a bit quicker. Sort of trading aerial play for a high velocity ground game. I'm a bit worried that each character is going to have one optimal combo that might make the online dull in the long run.

Ive been mainly using Striker and Inquisitor in the DnF Duel beta. Inquisitors wheel deals so much damage with the right set up. Its insane.

Either I have a better connection with people playing KOF or the netcode is just noticeably better. A lot of matches had 3 rollback frames at the most, and I appreciate that it actually has both a tutorial and training mode. I'm super garbage at it though, unlike DnF where I feel like I can at least steal some wins because no one knows too much about what they're doing.

Can we talk about the fact that the inquisitor's wheel lasts about twice as long as it should? When the servers were down I had the misfortune of going up against a CPU that abused the hell out of it and when you're stuck blocking through its animation for the fifth time in one round you really realize how obscenely annoying it is.

yep it's one of NEXON's biggest cash cows, in the korean and chinese servers

there's also a "global" english server that was released in 2015 by Neople (developers of the game) for the western audience and it is still around today, a much longer shelf life than the old NEXON NA version

you won't like the original game much if you don't have a soft spot for 2d side scrolling beat em up style gameplay, as well as MMO elements such as grinding (it is a korean mmo after all) and p2w

Yeah, it feels like almost every character so far has something or many things incredibly strong or borderline busted in their kits aside from maybe Dragon Knight. Even with Dragon Knight, I think she just requires a lot more work to use effectively than the other characters.

Granted, this was a surprisingly early network test so I have to imagine there's still quite a bit of balancing to do and hopefully the unexpectedly large crowd they got this weekend generated enough data for them to do just that.
