I had a house gecko, I tried to put him on the land air of my turtle tank and he jumped out and run into my closet. Tegus are great, but a lot of work and commitment. It's going to get very large. They need a huge enclosure, and a ton of socialization and interaction. i've never understood the urge to keep reptiles. they're great animals, and i've handled plenty of them from previous volunteer work, but every one i've ever delt with was high maintenance. oh and they all hiss and bite. not cute when you're stuck in a room with a 15ft long python throwing a hissy fit and you've got to move it to another enclosure...
